Good music from dance, hip hop, pop, rock, etc...Pete Rock, J-Dilla, Just Blaze, Kanye West, Batllecat, "Golden-Era" hip hop like Tribe, De La, Boot Camp Click, EPMD, Erick B. & Rakim, Leaders of the New School, Roots, Newer hip hop with that vibe like Little Brother, Slum Village, Mos Def, Kweli, Common, K-otix, etc... But I really love all types!
Daryl P, otherwise known as DJ Kosuri of the Krackernuttz or simply Kosuri, can be classified as a true blue man of Hip-hop. He comes from a family where music naturally runs in their veins. His musical influence is quite diverse it ranges from Soul, Jazz, Rock, Disco, 80s hits and the list goes on. His first dive into the Hip-hop culture dates all the way back to 1984 - after watching Beat Street, he became so intrigued with Breakdancing.
Later on, his interest shifted to Mcing. Thus, around 1989, he and his classmates began to seriously focus on Mcing after admiring and listening to groups like Eric B. & Rakim, Public Enemy, EPMD, & De la Soul. He briefly re-visited breakdancing when b-boying made a come back into the Hip-hop scene. Kosuri, then decided to get serious into Djing after he picked up a copy of Rap Page (or Source) magazine in 1995. This interest was also prompted when he noticed that a lot of Filipinos were dominating the scene (i.e. Beat Junkies & Rock Steady Djs (Invisible Scratch Piklz)).
His passion for the music made him excel in Djing, thus during the mid to late 90s, he dominated the Houston & surrounding Texas cities battle scene winning first place & placing in numerous dj battles. In 1999, the Krackernuttz recruited Kosuri after seeing him open a performance for Dj Craze in the legendary Houston venue, Club Wax. From then on, Kosuri has opened performances for various Hip-hop acts that came through Houston.
He was a rotating dj for Rice University Radio (@ KTRU w/ DJ D.L.). Then from 1999-2001 he was one of the on-air personalities at KBXX 97.9 the Boxx w/ the Krackernuttz.
After successfully obtaining his college degree at the end of 2001, he decided to slow down w/ Djing and shifted his focus on his career. While resting from djing, he later bought himself an MPC and started to focus more in producing unique and creative Hip-hop beats. From then on, he has enjoyed producing various beats for some of Houston's finest MC's. I guess one could classify him as a Mild-mannered Accountant during the day and a Hip-hop Beat Addict at night.
