October 1st 1986 was the proudest moment in Hawkwind poet Robert Calvert's life, it was the day he headlined London's prestigious Queen Elizabeth Hall as a solo act. The musicians he chose to perform with him at that show were Inner City Unit members Dead Fred and Steve Pond, along with ICU Graphic designer Mary Cason on Synthesiser.
The show was a critical and commercial success and the participants continued to work together. Sadly Robert passed away in 1988. Twenty years after Robert's death Fred & Steve reconvened to play Robert's songs at the tribute show organised for his family by Nik Turner.
The show went well and galvanised by the project Fred & Steve decided to resurrect the Krankschaft name and start making music seriously again. The first released fruits of this relationship can be found on the Remastered "Live at the Carlisle Stars & Stripes" album. "Ode to the Sun" an 18 minute interpretation of Roberts lost poem of the same name.
Shortly a full CD of Robert's songs called "The Flame Red Superstar" will be released this will be followed by an album of original material. Live shows after that..
Hi S&F,
Guess what the postman surprised me with today? ;-))
The album is mega-great (as was to be expected) and I will of course recommend it to other people (so they also can become highly attuned persons with their ears to the ground).
So thanks for the great stuff & best regards

Just put an Industrial Goth Techno remix of Steppenwolf up on my site. The tunes you've put up on yours are fucking brilliant. Got out of my chair and fucking danced about! Cxx
