MySpace a place for friends

Hmmmm, been told I'm unclassifiable, but here's a shot at it. Extroverted in public, introverted in private. An optimistic critical thinker. Completely urban (born and raised in N.J./N.Y.C.), yet I prefer country living on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Still don't look my age, and don't act it either. :) I'm a libertine capitalist who can't be killed by conventional weapons.

In 2000 I risked it all. My wife and I decided to make a big move. To follow our dreams and live our ideal life now, not "someday.". We left family, friends, and sold two of my multi-million dollar businesses to move 5,000 miles from N.J. to the most remote island chain in the world -- Hawaii.

Risky? Yes!!! But I've known risk since I started my first business at 12 as a skinny blond-haired kid. I've been the "Golden Child" succeeding in every direction I turn. I've tetered on bankruptcy and live had-to-mouth more times than I care to remember. And after nearly 30-years in business ownership, I can honsetly say the greatest growth has come in times of risk and challenge.

I've only held three traditional jobs in my entire life, and those lasted about 3-years while I was in college. (Does that count? lol) I never finished college, but I started my second business the end of my Junior year and started making so much money I never went back.

I've built four multimillion dollar companies since the age of 20, all self-funded. One of those companies (a landscape company) made me a millionaire by the time I was 28. I don't say this to impress you, but to impress upon you the fact that you can do the same... or hopefully -- much, much better!

Let's face it. If I could accumulate my first million by "making grass green" (as someone close to me once said,) anyone can do it.

Yet the greatest thing about being an entrepreneur and a business owner is not the money. It was (and still is) about freedom! Freedom to do what you want, when you want. The freedom to work with who you want in the way that you want. But freedom without boundries is chaos.

It all comes down to rules... if you can set the rules you will win the game!

Achieving the wealth and life you want will never happen following rules or depending on what you've been taught in school.

In school we're taught to get good grades, stop talking to friends in class, and do as we're told. The keys to success are not a degree, technical skills, or technology. The fact is, all those can easily be surpassed, replaced, or paid for.

The real key to business success is control. And before you go thinking; "Well I don't have a business." STOP!

We are ALL in business. Every day you're in the business of marketing yourself. If you have a job you're selling yourself to your boss. You have a constant marketing campaign going with your family and friends. And you are definitely promoting yourself if you're looking for your ideal mate.
