Interests

  • General

Like Frank said, "Music is the best". It is my life. Without it, I have no idea who I would have been. I love life, and helping others along the way is my second favorite activity. No one should be alone, and friendships are to be cherished. That's why, no matter what happens, or that some may take advantage, I remain steadfast to the ideal that my actions are my own, and to be a friend to all is the best way to have a rich life. It may bring pain and sorrow sometimes, but loving life with a full passion for others is worth every disappointment.
  • Music

My musical tastes are so varied, I shudder to try and establish a list... Needless to say, I enjoy music that has a true intention of inspiring, enlightening, entertaining, or otherwise is a genuine expression of that artists being. Improvisation is important to me, but that can mean a slew of things to different artists. If it's good, I'll listen.
  • Movies

I enjoy most forms of media, with movies being no exception. I have no real preference in them, but i do enjoy watching with friends & loved ones. I like documentaries, and enjoy finding more about the topic and cross-referencing the information for accuracy. Naturally, I also enjoy music videos, both documentary and performance.
  • Television

Depending on the show, I would rather be watching television than a full feature-length film. The educational programming on all of the Discovery and History channels is fascinating, as well as shows like "Penn & Teller's: Bullshit!". Charlie Rose is my favorite person on television, and my dream is to someday be on his show. I have another goal: to be on PBS before I move on from this world. The programming on there is culturally important in many ways, and I would love for my art to be displayed in such an outlet. How flattering to be affiliated with a service provided to folks to enrich their lives!
  • Books

I am also an avid reader. I have no doubt that the amount of reading material that I was encouraged to ingest as a child by both my mother and my aunt, who was such an important part of my education, has a direct relationship with my vocabulary, communication skills, and intellectual adaptability. What good is your brain if it doesn't seek out better answers than the ones you have already? I enjoy most all books, from Shakespeare (freakin' love his stuff) to Salvatore, Friedman to Franzi-boy (read 'The Trial'), Hesse to Hemingway, you get the idea. I am currently reading "The Children's Hospital", and "Musicophilia" at this time.
  • Heroes

Zappa, for one. His tenacity was unprecedented, and he will go down as one of the twentieth century's greatest composers, no doubt. But, not all my heroes are artists. People who make a difference in others lives are just as admirable as those who impress in more elaborate ways. I will never forget my friend who was severely disabled. He never gave up, and always cared so much about others. He offered me a different perspective than I would have if I had just allowed myself to enter into the selfish lifestyle of a typical American teenager. I learned how to be a righteous man by allowing my heart to open up to others and let them in to teach me. Everyone has something to give, and John taught me that better than anyone. He never thought of himself, even when he was dying. He would do everything in his power to make you feel comfortable with what HE was going through. He never looked to others to give him peace, he was peace. I will miss you buddy.
