Interests

  • General

Rock climbing, hiking, ceramics (although my skills are far from perfect), playing piano, dancing, serving the community, swimming, and meeting new people. I love to write too, I'm working on a series of poems about my journalism journey, and actually just pretty much my life journey. I'll keep putting them up on my blogs (well some, the others are a little too personal) and would love critique :) And of course blogging at naflynn.blogspot.com and editing at www.theintrepidsoul.wordpress.com.
  • Music

My favorite band is undecided but I like most kinds of music with the exception of hard metal and rap :( I really like the new Britt Nicole song "Set the World on Fire" Oh, and Miley Cyrus's "I might even be a rockstar" ~ Yes, I'm a Hannah Montana fan Oh and "Are we humans or are we dancers?" And... The Coney Island song that I don't know the name of ... And... So many others

  • Books

The Pact by Jodi Picoult is one of the best books ever placed in my hands and read by my eyes...I would highly reccommend it to anyone who comes across this comment. I need to find my copy... Vanishing Acts by Jodi Picoult: when you combine a journalist, with a search and rescue warden, with an attorney, and a couple of alchoholics, it makes for a very good story. Espescially when the warden is engaged to the attorney representing her father who kidnapped her to escape her drunk mother. (yea, it's a good book) A new favorite book is Once Upon a Day, it is a modern fairy tale with a twisted plot involving a utopian home that fails, and the main character's quest to find her past. PLUS: Of course, the newspaper, but I don't think that counts as a book :)
  • Heroes

Jesus, not just a hero, but a role model, a confidant, and a friend. My mother: though here just a short 42 years the impact she had on my life and the lives of others will live forever in our hearts. Rest in peace Mommy I miss you.

About me:

Hello! Kalimara! (That's Greek, translated to the English alphabet, for "Hello") I started learning Greek a couple of semesters ago with a plan to travel there once I was fluent enough to communicate efficiently with the townsfolk, however, things have been a little busy and I haven't advanced much. And, I recently interviewed a Olympian from the U.S. Men's Water Polo team who lives in Greece. He said pretty much every one there speaks English from a young age. So, I'm not too worried about it. But, it's still a beautiful language and if I ever slow down enough to remember my head, I may pick it up again. I recently decided, that instead of drinking on my 21st birthday, I am going to go skydiving. I have always wanted to do it, and figured I'd get a much healthier buzz that way. I think Dr. Heimlich is a wack job (I've talked to him), and writing is as easy to get addicted to as nicotine. I write a blog that can be accessed at naflynn.blogspot.com and am the editor of Wanderings of an Intrepid Soul: www.theintrepidsould.wordpress.com. So, needless to say, journalism is pretty much my life right now. Lame, I know but that's the way I love it :) I enjoy spending time outdoors, chocolate, reading, hanging out at the beach, in the mountains, anywhere where I can see the sun set and all the stars come out. I love music, working with kids, playing piano, dancing,ROCK CLIMBING, surfing, and talking. < ........

Who I'd like to meet:

Jesus (I'm one of those weird people who are looking forward to death but not in a dark sinsiter way, just because it will be fascinating to finally have all the answers) Edna Buchanan of the Miami Herald, the greatest crime reporter EVER (besides good 'ole Layla of course)! ~"Gary Robinson died hungry" (Just brilliant) Simon from American Idol Congolese Warlords Obama Carrie Underwood John and Sherrie Rivers from K-Love :) Some of the thousands of children suffering from AIDS in Africa to tell their stories. Pretty much anybody. I think that everyone has a story to tell and I love talking and learning about people, their experiences, and how they've changed because of them. A few others that escape me right now.

Thanks! I wrote the main story on a work-supplied laptop that I'd taken to court with me. There's no wireless there, but an attorney had a flash drive so I put the story on there, and then e-mailed it from his computer.
