Hip Hop is not just music, it is a lifestyle to Kre Forch. Early on songs like “Express Yourself” from NWA and “I Got It Made” by Special Ed would inspire him as an artist and a man. One of the great up and coming lyricists, Kre Forch has made tremendous strides in Philadelphia Hip Hop and truly has only begun.

Born and raised in the South Philly Tasker Projects, Kre Forch began his journey through the Hip Hop culture by one of Hip Hop’s key elements, graffiti. When practicing the art of graffiti Kre would sign his artwork “Kream” and in the streets would often use the name Fortunate. Shortly after, the name “Kre Forch” was born, two words signifying originality. Neither can be found in the dictionary. Simply put Kre is defining the meaning through thought provoking rhymes over hard driven beats.

Also known to some as “The Champ of the People”; he was a member of the TCG’s, Tasker City G’s, a group that consisted of Dex Dill, Drama, Scoot Geez, City Council and Kre. As he watched his friends hone their rapping skills, he was on the basketball court with aspirations of the NBA. But through his association with the TCG’s, hip hop was all around and Kre began to write rhymes. It then became evident Kre had a true natural ability to create lyrics. In 1997, with the support of the crew, Kre began to take rapping seriously.

His first project was collaboration with Dex Dill. A man he considers his blood brother. The mixtape was appropriately titled “Blood Brothers”. It flooded the streets and certain tracks like “Chase Dat Doe” became anthems. Just ask Kre’s mom, a teacher in South Philly, her students kept singing this one particular song and at her requests to stop, the children informed her it was her son’s track. She immediately went home and asked Kre about the track. It was then his mother took notice that it was no longer a hobby for Kre, it was his gift. Kre’s mother is his inspiration and his motivation to succeed. From her, he gained his steadfast work ethic and uncanny intelligence that has helped him grow into the man he is today.

To describe Kre’s style it is necessary to listen to his lyrics. He talks on all subjects from growing up in the projects to the love of his family in a poetic and inspirational way, which never loses its edge. His songs have been compared to a canvas and Kre to the artist. He paints a picture that can touch a person’s soul and one that creates images of “real” life. To Kre it is not necessary for him to act or dress a certain way because the man he is becomes clearly evident in his collection of mixtapes. “They say real recognize real and if that’s so I know I don’t wonder Stevie can even see me , I’m non-fiction its nothin like on tv my whole life been hard nothin ever was easy”, is a perfect example of his descriptive lyricism.

In 2007, came the release of “Fright Night” hosted by DJ Difference. It was instantly a hood classic. Having been in the game for nearly 10 years, the up and coming rappers of today will tell you that Kre is one of the artists that paved the way for them. He was always ahead of his time, raps that today’s generation are doing now, was how he began. Kre raps for the love of hip hop, not the money. To him it is about the lyrics, the beats, the sharpening of his skills. His depiction of realism is pure, and any person from the streets can tell you of their respect for him being “real” … all the time.

Kre has performed all over the Philadelphia area, as well as a city wide tour with Rocafella recording artist and Philadelphia native, Freeway. Kre was also a featured performer in a city wide school tour to promote ending violence in Philadelphia. Kre is one of the true great men that believe in giving back to the communities that have given him so much throughout the years. To Kre, God makes all this possible. To his fans, he wants them to know how strongly he appreciates each and every one of them. But most importantly be on the look out for a big year. Kre has been featured on many mixtapes and DVDs and performed at some of the most popular clubs in and out of Philadelphia. He has opened for, featured and worked with some of Philly's hip hop best including Freeway, Beanie Siegel, Gillie da Kid, Peedi Crack, Elliot Ness, Chic Raw, Reed Dollaz, Sand Man and many more.
