Kreng

Bio:

Kreng started as a strictly sample-based project, working with sounds from various sources: free-jazz, first generation electronics, improv, classical modernism, vintage ethnomusical fieldrecordings, etc... The project mutated into a cinematic, theatrical device that has been used by various film and theater directors. Kreng scored more that 20 theatre- & danceproductions, most of them produced by the Belgian theatre-company Abattoir Fermé.

Kreng produced a remix for Badawi's Unit Of Resistance Album (Badawi = Raz Mesinai who also records for John Zorn's Tzadik label)

The debut album, titled ' L'Autopsie Phenomenale De Dieu' is now released on the excellent Miasmah label (artistic co-ordination by Erik Skodvin, aka Svarte Greiner / Deaf Center).

I'm influenced by everything that's ever been done, everything I ever heard, but anyway... this is the stuff I gave repeated listenings: Bernard Herrmann, Ennio Morricone's 70's period in Italy, J.S. Bach, Morton Feldman, Sun Ra, Mick Harris (Scorn), Alan Lomax, Dmitri Shostakovich, Burnt Friedman & Nonplace Urban Field, John Zorn (almost all his work from Masada to Naked City), Radian, John Cage, Badawi, early Mo Wax & Ninja stuff, Charles Mingus, Alice & John Coltrane, ESP Records, early Four Tet, late period Talk Talk & Mark Hollis' solo record, Dictaphone, John Barry, Tom Waits, Diamanda Galas, Max Steiner, The Necks, Kammerflimmer Kollektief, Tied + Tickled Trio, Nina Simone, Duke Ellington, Coil, Lightning Bolt , Pan Sonic, Mike Patton, composers of 50's 'till 70's sci-fi & horror movies, people with tape-recorders everywhere... etc..
