I am in my thirties, and I have been playing the guitar since I was 13. I started out on a borrowed acoustic guitar influenced by my older brother Miroslav (who was the only guitar instructor I ever had) and Ramones, Deep Purple, Motorhead, Van Halen, local bands Azra, Riblja Corba and Parni Valjak. Strong early influence was classical guitar music (especially Narciso Yepes playing Domenico Scarlatti's sonatas) and flamenco (Paco deLucia). In the 80's I was influenced by Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore and Tony Macalpine and the other usual suspects - Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Greg Howe... Later on, I was introduced to jazz: Django Rheinhardt, Charlie Christian and Wes Montgomery. My current musical favorites are many, including: Steely Dan, Jamiroquai, Tower of Power, Maroon5, U2 and guitarists: Brett Garsed, TJ Helmerich, Jeff Beck, Brent Mason, Jim Campilongo and fusion artists, especially Larry Carlton and Scott Henderson.
I spent the nineties teaching hundreds of students, writing the guitar column in a Croatian heavy metal magazine and doing guitar demos. I started a funk-rock band called Frazi, did some gigs as a guitar player and arranger for a couple of singers, and in 1998 joined Scorpion band. I have been playing (and still am) in touring bands for a decade (accumulating more than 700 gigs), with popular Croatian singers:
- Severina, from 1998-2003 and
- Vesna Pisarović, 2003-present
I also play regulary with Jazz Big Band Petrinja and plan to release instrumental album soon.
