I read many books a year. So it is hard to say, the subjects are all over the place. I don’t really have heroes I have people the have qualities that I admire like Winston Churchill, Stonewall Jackson, Mother Theresa, St. Anthony, Padre Pio, and a lot of people around the world that quietly go about the business of doing the right thing, even when it is the hardest choice.

About me:
Based in Seattle I teach Goju-Ryu Karate primarily but also teach Kobudo and Judo at our dojo, the West Seattle Karate Academy. Tae Kwon Do was the first art I trained in starting at age 15. (1976) Goju-Ryu followed later as with Judo. Having traveled to other countries to teach and to learn (Asia, Europe, and North America) I have found that karate and the martial arts in general serves as an international passport to some of the greatest people I have ever met. Jonathan Bynoe Thanks for accepting my friend invite. I read your book The Way of Sanchin Kata and it is a very informative book. I look forward to reading Way of Kata, I read some excerpts of it from Jissen Magazine. I performed Sanchin kata in my Black Belt Grading, my disappointment was that my Sensei didn't make me take my gi top off and perform it the traditional way that Goju-ryu practitioners do in order to show the tension in the muscles.
