About me:
Based in Seattle I teach Goju-Ryu Karate primarily but also teach Kobudo and Judo at our dojo, the West Seattle Karate Academy. Tae Kwon Do was the first art I trained in starting at age 15. (1976) Goju-Ryu followed later as with Judo. Having traveled to other countries to teach and to learn (Asia, Europe, and North America) I have found that karate and the martial arts in general serves as an international passport to some of the greatest people I have ever met. I read many books a year. So it is hard to say, the subjects are all over the place. One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was, “Read outside your industry.” A few of the books I have written are: The Way of Sanchin Kata; The Application of Power. I don’t really have heroes I have people the have qualities that I admire like Winston Churchill, Stonewall Jackson, Mother Theresa, St. Anthony, Padre Pio, and a lot of people around the world that quietly go about the business of doing the right thing, even when it is the hardest choice.
