Kris Adams was born in Georgia into a music loving family. She lived in the south and in Germany before settling in the northeast at the age of 12. Her first singing memory was in the car with her parents, singing along with the radio to "Walk Right In" (as sung by the Rooftop Singers in 1963). After moving to New England, Kris joined a children's musical theatre group that travelled and performed around New England. Her first professional gigs were with a latin jazz band called Talking Drums in Hartford, CT. In 1979, she moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music and then attended New England Conservatory after singing professionally in the Boston area. While at NEC, Kris studied with Dominique Eade, Bevan Manson, Paul Bley, Jimmy Giuffre and John McNeil. After graduating, she worked in a duo with guitarist Rob Levit and taught workshops with singer Lisa Thorson. In 1994, Kris started teaching at Berklee College of Music and is currently Associate Professor in the Harmony Department. She released her first CD, in collaboration with pianist/producer, Steve Prosser, as a bandleader in 1999, "This Thing Called Love", and followed up with a second release, "Weaver of Dreams", in 2002. Kris recently travelled to Brazil and Italy to study with singers Monica Salmaso, Michelle Hendricks and Norma Winstone. She is certified in teaching Jeanie LoVetri's Somatic Voicework technique.

Paulo Djorge http://www.estantevirtual.com.br/mod_perl/info.cgi?livro=19083498
