the calling of the 12 disciples is a powerful moment in the course of events that took place during the ministry of Jesus. though both fully God and fully human, Jesus had the ability to exist perfect among mankind, without support. i believe that the action of "the calling" is not to depict Jesus' need for support but rather to indicate to us the need for our own "twelve". a support network of men and women that are real and accountable and imperfectly presentable, to themselves, to everyone, to Him.

this is the perfect slate, neither clean or sorted, definitely not free from the actions of life and the direct effects of those actions. at this point in my life my past is my own, those affected and included have and will be part of me for as long as i have breath, but my direction is facing forward. i wrote a blog the other day titled "bombs of copper", relating the concept of dropping a penny from a building and the impact it makes vs the concept of dropping a huge brick of tightly packed pennies from the same building and the enormous, unfathomably impact that would inevitably ensue. this is the next step of my life. i am no teacher, nor soap-box preacher, but i can attain to those remarkable words of Martin Luther King when i say that i too have a dream. birthed from both hope and despereate need, i dream of twelve. the number twelve standing as a metephor of the greater depicting closeness. i see many people doing their best and their own and their life and ...awesome. but as someone who finds it difficult to understand always how to be when i am in front of people and at the same time knowing exactly how i want to be on my own, i see value in you. i see truth and wisdom and discernment and simplicity and i am drawn to invite you into my twelve. often or not, my desire is to fuel and be fueled by the simplicity of existing and moving forward knowing that their is no judgement here, no first/second/third, no anything other than common-minded likeness and life that continues according to His timing. i will call many of the people i know into a commitment of sorts, to be actively participating in this life. motivating others and being bolding abrasive with best intientions. Kris, you are the first to recieve this comment, which will be copy and pasted into other peoples inbox. for some reason you speak so highly of me, not caring about the imperfections, but simple, kind and right. thank you. may you be the first to take the challenge to pray and contemplate and weight whether you would like to be part of an active my "twelve". blessing to you always and forever, regardless of your decision.
