Hallo, ich bin Krissy Dorn,

und ich stelle euch hier meine Songs vor, die ich selbst schreibe, singe und mit Klavier oder Gitarre begleite. Die Melodien dazu waren schon immer in meinem Kopf, und daraus geworden sind Songs, die von Herzen kommen, Songs über mich und andere, die von Begegnungen, von Beobachtungen, von den Dingen des Lebens erzählen, Songs zum Träumen, zum Zuhören, zum Genießen.

Lange Zeit habe ich anderer Leute Musik nachgespielt und -gesungen (und tue es immer noch) – angefangen hat es mit den alten Lagerfeuer-Klassikern auf der Straße und bei jeder sonstigen Gelegenheit, irgendwann waren es dann Puccini, Gershwin und Webber in Kirchen und Konzertsälen, Rock/Pop/Funk/Soul und Acidjazz in Clubs und auf Festivals, mit Gitarre, Band, Orchester oder a cappella, vor großem Publikum in eleganten Abendroben und glänzenden Augen und vor ein paar letzten, benebelten Barflies im Frühmorgendämmer.

Mein erstes eigenes Programm – ich habe es Songs About You genannt – habe ich im Februar bei der LadyJam im Herbrand’s in Köln vorgestellt, in Minimalbesetzung, also: Krissy am Mikro, an Gitarre und Piano. Das war … groovy!

Songs About You enthält zwölf Songs, und wer weiß, vielleicht wird mal ein Album daraus. Für den Anfang habe ich jetzt erst mal ein Demo mit ein paar wenigen Songs aufgenommen, die ab sofort auch hier zu hören sind.

Ich habe dafür ein paar wunderbare Musiker eingeladen, mich zu begleiten – mit Bass, E-Gitarre, Cello, Piano und Percussion und einer echten Hammond. Vielen lieben Dank an Moustafa Osh, Kristian Lutze und Sebastian Ruin!

Hey, I’m Krissy Dorn,

And I’d like to present to you the songs I write, sing and play myself on the guitar and the piano. The melodies have always been in my head, now they’ve turned into songs that come straight from the heart; songs about me and others telling about encounters, observations and the things of life, songs for dreamers, for listeners, for enjoyers.

I used to cover other people’s music (and still do) – the old campfire classics on the street and at any other opportunity, Puccini, Gershwin and Webber in churches and concert halls, rock/pop/jazz/funk/soul in clubs and on festivals, with a guitar, band, orchestra or a cappella for huge audiences in their evening dresses watching and listening with sparkling eyes and some half sedated barflies in the early morning twilight.

In February 2010 I presented my first song collection Songs About You in the Herbrand’s Club in Cologne, just me singing and playing the guitar and the piano. That was … groovy!

The collection includes twelve tracks which would be enough for a full length album, so who knows. But to start with, I recorded a demo with only a couple of songs you can listen to right here on this page. I invited some wonderful musicians to play along with bass and electric guitar, piano, cello, percussions and even a real Hammond. Many thanks to Moustafa Osh, Kristian Lutze und Sebastian Ruin!
