The pain, the heartbreak, the laughter, the love... and the process of learning to surrender to it all.
Oh yeah, and... James Taylor, CSNY, Simon and Garfunkle, Dishwalla, Ray Lamontagne, Amos Lee, Tyrone Wells, Erin McCarley... and just about an endless list of other incredibly talented musicians.
Krista Herring is an up and coming Portland singer/songwriter who has been called “the best secret kept in the music industry.” After countless hours of work in several studios, she has just released her impressive debut album, "Lay It Down." Her songs are soulful, elegant prose set to the beat of her acoustic guitar and delivered by powerful, captivating vocals. She is usually accompanied by her band of talented musicians who bring a great dynamic that is a pleasure to witness.
Some believe that the soul and spirit of this generation’s music has been lost to a void of propaganda-driven, money-hungry, industry-manufactured musicians and bands, meant to spoon-feed people what, they are assumed to want to hear. However, it’s safe to say that any listener with an open heart and soulful intellect will find that the lost spirit of this generation’s musical paradigm has been resurrected in the illustrious talents of new musicians and artists such as Krista Herring.
ABOUT THE ALBUM:
“Lay It Down” is an album created against the odds. Despite severe injury to one of her fingers on her guitar chord hand in the middle of album production, Krista managed to retrain herself to play without the finger in order to finish the album. Drawing from her personal (and very human) experiences, Krista has created an album that speaks to the heart of the listener, and turns human frailty and clumsiness into beautiful art. It is a completely independent, home-grown album set to impress even the most discerning of listeners.

"DJ Monkey …soul-stirring, excitingly edgy music…just disturbing (read ‘mind-f**king’) enough to demand attention. There is a whole spice rack of auditory flavors here, served up like fractured poetry on a collection of intensely listenable Hallmark cards from Hell."
