LIVE: Kristina Furey is a Northern Virginia, singer songwriter that performs in an acoustic pop duo consisting of both original and cover tunes with her husband, guitarist, Dan Furey. What sets them apart from most acoustic acts is their high energy level. This is not a duo that performs sitting down or has ever been described as predictable. Hey Bob, how's it going? Yes, that was me waving hi. It's fun to be animated!!! :-) Thanks for slowing down and stopping by to say hi. Dan and I are doing well. However Dan is just now getting over some nasty cold/flu thing. We started recording our new CD and are hoping to get some performances lined up come March. I hope this New Year is treating you well! :-)

Kristina, you sweet, AWESOME individual! ANY smalll music success would be REAL nice right now; I don't have a single gig coming up (for the first time in a few years, I think I should add!) and it has me slightly heart-broken... I just started a NEW job downtown DC, and I'm still adjusting to the nearly-all-public-transportation commute. My silver lining is a good many new song ideas are percolating and being quietly assembled whenever I have some spare moments... ALSO: I have already begun dreaming of attending the Swannanoa gathering (see swangathering.org (You and DAN should totally check out the contemporary folk week - which is primarily about expanding songwriting/performing skills!)) and THAT makes me happy, so... BUT, yes - I'll get to your blog. Best to Dan - he's THE MAN (& you da' WOMAN!)

WHEN PERFORMING: It's the most fun you can have with an acoustic duo! Kristina and Dan bring an incredible amount of energy to the original and cover music they perform as an acoustic duo! Listen as guitarist Dan Furey records, on the spot, a rhythm or a drum line with his guitar looper and layers the music on top of that creating a full acoustic band sound.
THE STORY: It's the classic girl next door who loves to write music and sing, meets a guitarist that rocks and takes her and her songs to places she had only imagined in her wildest dreams. Yeah, it's like that, only cooler! Kristina and Dan are a married couple who thought maybe they could make beautiful music together. It started out as an experiment to see what would happen if they took an original song and recorded it to CD. The result of the experiment was an explosion of a new talent, similar to what it would sound like if Billy Squier and Michelle Branch recorded together, which brought out all the fans who'd been waiting for that phenomenon to occur. These new fans demanded the experiment be extended until there was a full CD of this rocking, soulful music. That's it. There's no more story. You can't make this stuff up, well actually you can and they do. That's right, they're making it up as they go along. However, there really is no more bio. If you want the whole story sign up and become a fan, get their personal update letters, see them perform and experience the journey along with them.
