Chicago singer/songwriter Kristin Cotts delves into the beauty, angst, mystery, and joy that comprise the natural world and the human condition. With eloquent lyrics and graceful musical phrasing, her songs are stories, filled with precise and poetic images, and supported by a talented backing band of some of Chicago’s finest instrumentalists. Laced with humor, her songs are a poignant expression of the precarious nature of our lives.
Kristin Cotts has been writing songs since the age of nine. Originally from the Chicago area, Kristin has lived in such disparate places as North Dakota and France, with stops in Minnesota and Michigan along the way. She is a long distance runner, loves playing in large bodies of water, and has a knack for languages and a passion for learning. She writes songs when she feels like it, which is pretty often, and has spent a lot of hours alone taking her guitar playing in its own choppy direction.
In 2006, she released Spatial Relations, a twelve song CD, which has been praised for its originality, variety, whimsy, and beauty. Joining her on the CD are members of her band What About Rosalind, including Steve Schuster (co-producer and multi-instrumentalist), Jackie Aicher (flute), Liza Villarreal (violin/viola), and Joe Yost (sax).
In 2008, she began recording her second CD, Gravity the Moon, with a projeced release date of March 2009. Featuring renowned Chicago musicans Al Erich (bass), Tony Dale (drums), Andon Davis (lead guitar), and Anne Patterson (cello), the new CD promises a full rockin’ sound, combined with the originality and variety of Spatial Relations.
Hello to all my friends out in the world. This is Shiregreen. Hope you remember … we got some of the same roots. Today’s a very special day for me. My album “Dreams and Shadows” is out now and available at cdbaby. com. 14 Songs … each of them telling its own story. With influences of great songwriters like Kristofferson, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot or Jim Croce … but most of all it’s my own thing (my right name is Klaus Adamaschek). I’ve just posted the title track and another new song. Maybe you got some minutes to listen, maybe give me a feedback … and if you enjoy it you might buy it. Let’s keep on dreaming… Your friend Shiregreen

Hi Kristin, thanks a lot for the friendship. Great to be added to such a wonderful singer and songwriter. There's great music on your page, lots of new inspiration. In some ways we got the same roots. Maybe you got the time to listen to some of my songs. For example “Freedom fighter” which won the international songwriter contest “Comprosers" (Los Angeles/Maastricht 2008). Think you like it. Hope to see you some day in Germany or maybe in New York ... who knows??? All the best for you and all your friends ... Shiregreen from Germany
Thanks for the heads up, Kristin. We midwesterners have to stick it out together! Chicago's not too far away...if you ever get into south Wisconsin, be sure to let us know.
