I began my business 5 years ago with 2 goals in mind...to create artwork everyday and support myself doing so...Well here I am 5 years later doing just that and then some. I still draw and paint everyday plus a million other things needed to run a business...but I love it... Here is my story: Beginning with my first art class in sixth grade, I was certain that the rest of my life would involve creating works of art. Since then, I have always been involved in some sort of project. Whether it be a summer of creating wheel-thrown pottery, or painting on location out west, it has always been clear - art is my calling. I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education in 1999. Soon after, I created all of the stationery for my own wedding. I then went on to do the same for close friends and family. This type of work combined my passion for creating as well as a desire to work with people. In 2003, I formed my own business, Momental, which features a collection of hand-painted wedding and special occasion stationery derived from my original artwork. The word momental describes my philosophy: “weddings are joyous, yet fleeting, occasions that deserve the utmost in creative details.” I see handcrafted invitations, programs, seating cards, etc. as the details that can make an occasion most memorable. In my artwork, I combine traditional techniques with unique combinations of color and texture - primarily working in watercolor but often using accents of gouache, acrylic and colored inks.
