Kristy Thirsk has a unique sound all her own but if you like Sarah McLaughlin, Tori Amos, Nelly Furtado, Delerium, Sleepthief, The Sundays, The Cocteau Twins, The Cure, Jeff Buckely, Joni Mitchell ...you'll probably like Kristy Thirsk.
Kristy Thirsk is a Vancouver, B.C. born singer songwriter who got her start in the Juno award winning alternative pop band the Rose Chronicles. Rose Chronicles were college radio favorites in the early to mid 1990's and also crossed over to some mainstraim radio success with both their debut cd "shiver" and sophomore release "happily ever after". Many Rose Chronicles songs were featured in various movies and television shows such as Le Femme Nikita and Foxfire starring Angelina Jolie. After the recording of Rose Chronicles "Happily Ever After" cd the band unfortunately parted ways.
In 2002 Kristy gained the attention of Billboard top 10 producer ERIC ROSSE, who's credit's include Tori Amos - little earthquakes and Under the Pink and Lisa Marie Presley's debut and sophomore releases. Eric and Kristy worked hard over the course of a year on and off and finally finished Kristy's debut solo full length album entitled SOUVENIR. During that time Kristy also began to write and record with Platinum selling electronic group DELERIUM. Her contributions on songs such as "Flowers become Screens" and "Incantation" catapulted DELERIUM into mainstream radio success in Canada and up the dance club charts across the U.S. and Europe. The album SEMANTIC SPACES went on to sell well over 350,000 units worldwide. The follow up album was called KARMA and featured Kristy's singing and songwriting on 4 songs... 5 on Limited Edition. While the track SILENCE (ft. Sarah McLaughlin) became a major hit in Europe Kristy's featured song HEAVEN'S EARTH became a no.1 single in Australia and one of the biggest club hits of that year across Europe. Various Kristy songs from KARMA were featured in major motion pictures such as "Get Carter" starring Sylvester Stallone and the movie trailer for "Bait". KARMA's global success exceeded 2 MILLION units. Kristy again joined Delerium on the albums Chimera with RETURNING and her latest contribution, SELF-SABOTEUR, off NUAGES DU MONDE.
After the break up of Rose Chronicles and while continuing her work with Delerium Kristy began cultivating her sound as a solo artist as well. Kristy and her various band line ups have toured the U.S. West Coast several times during the last 6 years and also played festivals in Toronto and New York. Her recent collaborations with SLEEPTHIEF has brought back a bit of her trademark ethereal vocals like in SUBLUNAR from the album THE DAWNSEEKER and the killer cover track SEND ME AN ANGEL. She is also featured on D:FUSE & HIRATZKA's SKYLINE LOUNGE with a groovy track called OVERKILL
Kristy is currently writing and co-producing an album with L.A. Producer/DJ MIKE HIRATZKA is poised to release her next solo album...
