Karkadan, in italiano “rinoceronte”, nasce a Tunisi.
Con il rap cresce dando vita alla crew Ctz City, una delle più importanti del paese.
Arriva in Italia nel 2003 e qui continua il suo percorso artistico "rappando" in tunisino francesizzato
. Presto si afferma anche nella scena hip-hop italiana.
In pochi anni si esibisce nei maggiori club underground di Milano e nelle principali rassegne del genere, collaborando con i maggiori rapper e produttori. Da queste collaborazioni nasce il format “Terrorist For Rent!”.
Nel 2005 esce “Rap Fi Still Arab”, primo progetto di Karkadan “Original Fan”, uno street album completamente auto-prodotto da cui è tratta la hit “Ana Tunzi Baba Tunzi” accompagnata da un videoclip animato.
Seguono altri singoli che attirano l’attenzione dell’ambiente, nel 2008 “Tunzi Fi Shlekka Mixtape” con la collaborazione di Dj Harsh e successivamente "El Jazira" con Deleterio che segna l’ingresso di Karkadan nella Dogo Gang (di cui fanno parte altri rapper di spicco della scena milanese tra cui i Club Dogo e Marracash).
La musica di Karkadan viene apprezzata anche all’estero. In Francia attira l’interesse del grande Mohammed Ali con cui Karkadan condivide oltre alla passione per la musica quella per il pugilato.
Dall’amicizia tra i due nasce il singolo "Ali Bom", brano scritto su richiesta dello stesso pugile e accompagnato da un video a lui ispirato. Il 2009 è l’anno della consacrazione.
A giugno esce l’album “Karkadance”, un progetto innovativo in cui per la prima volta oltre che in arabo Karkadan canta anche in italiano.
Dieci tracce che mixano sonorità hip hop con la disco dance, anticipate dal singolo “Discoteque” e dal relativo video firmato da Rinocriceto.
I beat che ne derivano sono il filo conduttore di un album che mira a superare diversità e pregiudizi in nome della musica.
