HISTORY

The band is formed in 2001, under the name "Dark Night", by Georgi Driev - guitar, Georgi Kushev - guitar, Spas Markov - percussion. The guys are good friends who, inspired by their idols - IRON MAIDEN, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, DEF LEPPARD, HAMMERFALL, decide to take up music. Despite a rocky start, they begin by making cover versions of their favorite bands. Two more members are recruited for the effort - Lili (keyboards) and Plamen Ribarov - vocals. These new additions, however, do not hang around for long and shortly leave. Determined to press on, Joro, Spas and Gogo manage to convince Zahari Shinikchiev to take up the vocals and add Nikola Ivanov at guitar. Georgi Driev takes over the bass and this is the birth of a formation that will be together for a number of years. The band's name is also changed - Krossfire. The group's first gig is in the 100 Vodi Club. Three bands perform that night - Krossfire, NAPAST and INTESTINATION. The boys give a solid performance and receive a good review in the press. The stage is set - another rock band is born! More performances in Plovdiv clubs follow - "Pianoto", Club "XXL", Club "C4". The group already has a small, but loyal fan base - mostly their friends. They are present everywhere the band performs and provide enthusiastic support. Beer festivals and Rock festivals are also venues for the band. After a year of concerts and rehearsals, Nikola leaves the band because of the demands of his job, while Spas is called for compulsory military duty in 2003. Svetoslav Nachev (drummer for Intestination and Valio (Popa) ) comes temporarily on board at percussion. At the end of 2003 Nikola and Spas return. The band is once again together and determined to make a name for its self in Plovdiv. No one suspects, however, that this will happen in less than a year. The groups last gig with this lineup is in the "XXL Club" - Zahari takes leave of the band. His place is filled by the former front man for RAPPEL RACK - Dimo Petkov. An accomplished vocalist, Dimo begins rehearsing with the band in early 2004. This new addition to the band's lineup proves incredibly successful and launches the band on their way to musical stardom. New gigs at "SAX" follow, at first on Sunday nights, but as the band's popularity grows the owners ask them to take over the busiest nights - Fridays and Saturdays. The band's fan base expands rapidly. At one show, Zvezdi of "AHAT" joins in to sing "Black Sheep". During the summer the band performs at the Plovdiv Beer Fest and an attempt is made to film the concert, unfortunately without success. More shows at "SAX" fill up the group's schedule for the rest of the year. In December 2004, the band draws the attention of "BULGARSKI FACTOR", an internet news media. An interview with the boys, conducted by Desislava Bakardjieva, is published on the media's internet site. Krossfire's internet presence is solidified when their own site - www.krossfirebg.com - goes online shortly afterwards making news, history, much photo material and updated information available to the band's fans. At this time the group begins working on composing their own songs - the first one, "Follow Your Dreams", is ready in December 2004. “SNOW”, “The Messiah (Mind Journey)”, “EPICA” and “Angel’s Cry” follow. The demo recording of these songs is set for the summer and autumn of 2005. Toshko Chakarov, Pesho "GARAGE Inc", Sarkis, Rumen Angelov and Petruchi provide greatly valued help with this process. In the end, three demo songs are recorded and mixed - “Follow Your Dreams”, “SNOW” and “The Messiah (Mind Journey)”. 2005 continues with a gig at the ROXBURY Club and more great performances at "SAX", but unfortunately the good times come to an end in May - "SAX" closes its doors for an unspecified period. In the fall, Krossfire play at the Plovdiv Rock Fest, an event taking place over three consecutive days - 21-23 September 2005. The forty minute show drives the crowd wild and marks another great performance for the band. Previously, on September 17 2005, Krossfire organize a large solo concert at "Stefan Stambolov Square" in Plovdiv with the help of the Plovdiv Municipality, the Plovdiv Info Program and Lubo Grozev. The two hour heavy metal and hard rock set shakes the central part of the city. The event draws a large crowd, confirming what the boys already know - the best fans are always at the band's side. This time the concert is filmed and will be released on DVD, under the title "Lets Get Rocked", at the start of 2006. The most significant event in the band's five year history is the invitation from Albena Tsolova (SinBSin / EAST METAL RECORDS) to open for american power-metal legends JAG PANZER in Sofia. A recognition of the group's hard work over the years, the event took place on 08.11.2005 in club FENS. Krossfire play for about an hour in front of "a small, but very high quality heavy metal crowd and give a perfect opening for the metal veterans". Excellent reviews in the press and the internet follow - PRO-ROCK magazine, avtora.com.... In November 2005, the Krossfire boys hit the club scene again - this time in "GEPI" in Plovdiv. Thanks to Luibo Grozev, the man without whose help rock in the city will be dead, "GEPI" is a landmark gathering place for rock fans. Two gigs at the club mark the end of the band's activity for 2005. Due to heavy schedule in club “GEPI”, the band didn’t perform during the first two monts of 2006. The first appearance is on 26.03.2006. More than hundred loyal fans support the band that night. Some of them received gifts – DVD’s, t-shirt and keyrings. More concerts followed in the club. On the 30.04.06, Krossfire are supporting act for the Austrian legents “PUNGENT STENCH”, thogether with “VRANI VOLOSA”. After the summer vacation, five concerts are schedule – first appearance on club “Marmalad”, headlining annual rock festival in Plovdiv, HONKY TONK festival and rock festival “Izborut”. After that the band began to work on next set of original songs - “When Good And Bad Collide”; “Light The Fire”, “Lonely In Silence”, “A Place Called Earth”, “Only You”. The important step was made – agreement with music agency “PS Music” to help the band with more concerts and album record. Krossfire continue club activity during the first four months of 2007. Club “KDK”, club “FENS”, club “JAM” and club “POLINERO place” became their new territories with new fans added to their fan base. Bad news emerged in April – Nikola Ivanov (2nd guitar) decided to leave. In short time, new member came on board – keyboard player Peter Boshnakov. This step helps the band even more. New arrangement of the songs has been made with keyboards. A brand new song was composed, later became first professional recorded single – “Touch Of Destiny”. Recorded in the beginning of 2008, “Touch Of Destiny” is a masterpiece, a highest point so far. The single was officially promoted in club “POLINERO place”, Plovdiv in May'08.
In the month of June 2008, the group celebrated its seventh birthday in a club Polinero - Plovdiv with a big party. The show was filmed and in September and October the material was processed for the upcoming DVD. The DVD was released in November, 25th 2008.
In June 2009, the song "Touch Of Destiny" participate in the compilation CD of the German heavy metal magazine "HEAVY". It officially came out in Germany in the second half of June. Song of the band is first in the disc, which gives us a huge advantage - every one will hear the song. Brief information and photo of the group was published in the magazine, along with other bands on the compilation. Also, songs from the disc are repeated sounds of the festival "BANG YOUR HEAD !!!", held in the town of Balingen 26 June 27, 2009.
This is the story of Krossfire so far. The first tentative steps into rock music have become giant leaps in these eight years. The band is full of energy and new ideas for the future. Lets hope that the good times will continue.....
