A small town white guy rapping around twenty years ago
My name is Kel, and way back in 1988, my best friend Jeff and I were rap music fanatics. I was The royal MC KING KRUSH, and he was the devastating MC R.I.P(for all that’s unaware it means "rest in peace", heh, heh) We started in 1981, and were hardcore until about 1997. We bought every tape and LP that was available anywhere, from THE GIFTED FOUR and THE CRASH CREW, to MC SHY D and MC CHILL. We used to go in Jeff’s gold/brown colored but dependable car to all the shows we could in Seattle and Tacoma Washington, and we saw all the good stuff. We saw everything from big acts like NWA(before they were big) and RUN DMC, to smaller acts like THE EGYPTIAN LOVER, and SIR MIX-ALOT, to local stuff like MC DEF and DJ E. To us, it was like we were privy to something off limits to lily white, country, small-town crackers, and every minute was a thing to treasure. It inspired us alot; we were always beatboxing or some other such goofy stuff. These songs were written, arranged, performed, and recorded by me; I take all responsibility for the terrible nature of them. Recently Jeff found the tapes and brought them to me, twenty years later; it was a trip. ;) I had so much fun with these back then. As far as the quality of the performances, I think that for a white guy in 1988 they’re pretty good; go back and listen to U.T.F.O at around that time...my lyrics are better, and I think my skills were too. I just didn’t sound as good. ;)
