Interests

  • General

Oh gosh, too many to list, but here are the main ones... SKATING, (inline speed, recreational, and bouncing/shuffle skating), fitness & nutrition, bodybuilding, hiking, biking, pretty much almost any sport I get an opportunity to play, the outdoors, sports cars, philosophical discussions, interesting debates at times, etc. And oh, in case you didn't notice, I like to talk/type, heh.

  • Music

"Bounce" music, all kinds of Hard Rock - past & present (LOVE 80's Hairbands!), Techno, Dance Mixes, 80's music, some Hip Hop, basically whatever I'm in the mood for, but I can be caught listening to almost anything at times.
  • Movies

I like a variety of movies, comedies, action, horror, science fiction, chic flicks, lol, can't say that I'm into any one type more than the others. I tend to get really glued to movies that make me think. The reality though is that I rarely get the opportunity to watch any movies, not with a 3 yr old and a 5 month old in the house, heh.
  • Television

I don't watch hardly any TV, I have way too many other and more interesting things to do (or you could say I'm just too busy doing other things). But if I do, I watch Niptuck, the Star Trek's, Discovery, Charmed, Smallville, and a lot of sitcoms like That 70's Show, which is my all time favorite, also like Seinfeld, Family Guy, Simpsons, Everybody Loves Raymond, Rosanne, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, etc. Oh wait... and I watch Spongebob Squarepants too, my 3 yr old son loves it and I recently discovered, so do I! I think it's hilarious! But then again, I AM easily amused, LOL.
  • Books

Have a lot of them, just don't have time to read them. When I was a teen I really liked to read science fiction and fantasy type books (so probably if I had nothing better to do I might still read them). Now days if I have time, I'm usually reading something educational, usually researching something (altho I do most of that on the internet anyway). I have a lot of identification books and books in the science fields and fitness & nutrition plus all the material I've had to read to stay an ACE certified personal trainer.
  • Heroes

Real life - It would have to be my dad and secondly probably my paternal grandpa. I miss them dearly and tremendously. :( Fictional - I always liked Cheetarah off the Thunder Cats, lol. There are probably a few others but I can't remember right now, heh, that was a long time ago!

About me:

I am a happily married wife, stay-at-home mom, ACE certified personal trainer, (altho I'm not currently training any clients), and athlete who thrives on competition. My life these days basically consists of taking care of my 2 kids, keeping some sort of order and cleanliness in the house, and staying in shape. I weight train at Riviera Fitness Center 3 times per week and do cardio 3-4 times per week via indoor & outdoor skating. I attend inline speed skating practices at Dreamland Skate Center in Pensacola with the Emerald Coast Speed Team woohoo! I'd be biking & hiking too if I had the time, money, and a babysitter, heh. In a nutshell, I'm a competitive sports and exercise junkie. I'll participate in just about any sport I get an opportunity to play.

I started inline speed skating on a small, exclusively locally competitive, beginner team in 1996 at the age of 24 thanks to an awesome lady & coach who saw potential in me. In the summer of 1999 I had the privilege of becoming a member of a Nationally competitive inline speed skating team. So then from 2000-2004 I became a National Level Inline Speed Skater, placing 2nd in my age division in 2000 in the Novice Championships. I then had to quit in late 2004 due to my first pregnancy. From Nov of 2004 until Feb of 2009 I was unable to participate in speed skating due to circumstances beyond my control as well as a second pregnancy. So now I'm finally back in speed skating and lovin' it!

I started weight training, getting into the bodybuilding lifestyle, in March of 2000 thanks to my teacher and now husband who schooled me on how to use the free weights. I had been an on and off gym goer before that but never really knew what I was doing, lol. I basically bodybuild as a hobby. You could say I was bitten by the iron bug, hehe. I just enjoy it, I REALLY like being STRONG, and I like the physique it has given me. Visit my bodybuilding profile at My BodySpace

I have had my Nordic Track about the same amount of time...bought it used from a lady who rarely used it.  I love how it shapes the legs.  It is my standby.  My treadmill has been out of order since last October.  We have been debating on having it repaired....it is a computer problem so could be costly so for now the Nordic Track is my workout buddy. :)

Thanks for the info I've learned some of that stuff in anatomy and physiology but we didn't go into detail about it much.

  • May 23 2009 10:33 PM

Yep Ari rolled her ankle during the 5K Saturday morning sometime in the 1st mile! She still finished, shaved 3 minutes off her last time and then pitched 4 innings in her softball game striking 12 girls out! THEN she let me know it hurt!! Gotta love her! So what was probably mild sprain to begin with is more severe now and we have to go back in 3 days after the swelling goes down to re-xray to rule out a stress fracture! So softball is on hold at least a week as well as pitching practice and running. It is killing her...she HAS to be lazy!

I bet you are busy with the growing family. I haven't been on here too much lately, either. Just got out of the habit with checking. I've probably been sleeping more and that's probably a goodt thing.

Hi Westy....great to hear from you. We are moving into a new modular in Sabattus. It is close to our home that we are in now. Steve is going to open his own massage therapy practice from our home....very exciting. It must be nice living in Florida. I could handle that. Hope you are happy there. Very nice family that you have. Congrats on the new addition.
