| About KRYTERIUM |
The idea of this band formed in the fall of 2005. In the spring of 2006 the band united and formed as Kryterium ®. This is a new era of Metal with the unique talents of this line up, Mike Chaves (vocals), John Karber (guitarist), Troy Komula (bassist), Mike Harter (guitarist), and Michael Landerman (drums). Members of the band all agree that their homebase lies in the heart of Boise, Idaho.
Kryterium pierces through the scene with its heavy groove riffs, solid drumming, driving bass riffs, and aggressive vocals. When the band was ready to play shows, they came out with such an attack, playing shows every week for months and already have played from California to Massachussettes. In less than a year, Kryterium was already playing on the main stage at the Milwaukee Metalfest XIX. Soon after, they won the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands, which allowed them to play at the Van's Warped Tour 2007 in Idaho. In September 2007, they played New England's biggest Rock fest, Locobazooka! 07. Locally, Kryterium headlines most of the venues, including Bravo Entertainment's Big Easy Concert House, and played two years in a row at Idaho's Rock The Mountain Fest, already being one of Idaho's most favorite band to watch and drawing the biggest metal crowd. In March of 2008, their song, "Unlock The Gates", was a featured track on the collector's cd in Metal Edge Magazine.
Kryterium has shared the stage with top national acts such as Heaven and Hell (Black Sabbath w/Dio), Alice Cooper, Queensryche, Shadows Fall, All That Remains, Chimaira, Otep, Killswitch Engage, God Forbid, As I Lay Dying, Divine Heresy, Powerman 5000, Sonata Arctica, Caliban, Poison The Well, Throwdown, The Acacia Strain, The Sword, Seemless, Skinlab, Incantation, Droid, Macabre, Byzantine, Godhead, Temple of Brutality, Anew Revolution, Years of Fire, Incite, and many others.
This band is all about energy, aggression, and having a good time. Kryterium's fan base continues to grow WORLDWIDE, with more and more demands to play in other cities and great myspace exposure. Currently, the band just released their debut album, "Control". It was mixed and engineered at the Tonic Room Studios in Boise, Idaho by Chris Parks & Jason Ringelstetter (Marcus Eaton, Midline, Sub*Vert). The album "Control" was mastered by Brian Gardner (Lamb Of God, Ozzy Osbourne) in Los Angeles, California. The band is going to continue to play and write more of what they and their fans want, some in-your-face metal.

Power Metal Webzine - By Reinier de Vries on February 1st 2008
The band from Boise, Idaho plays in your face modern metal with heavy groovy riffs, tight drumming and agressive vocals. The vocals are most of the time in Killswitch Engage, Twelve Tribes - style. But sometimes Michael Chaves growls as Ola Lindgren (Grave). And that makes the band a little different from the other modern metal bands I mentioned... Read More
Idaho Statesman - By Michael Deeds on January 25th 2008
Local CD review: Kryterium - CONTROL... it's tough to imagine many Boise bands topping the debut CD from Kryterium. It's the most vicious metal vibe ever committed to disc in the Treasure Valley...This metal is heavy. And precise...Kryterium's relentless attack is fueled by thrash and death metal, but the group - which has roots in the Bay Area - seems content to ride the middle ground between those skull-splitting genres. The screamed, lung-hocking vocals are mostly indecipherable, but song titles such as "Eaten Alive" "Brand New Curse" and aggressive skin-peeler "I Killed the King" convey all you need to know. Guitar rhythms slash deliberately, like Norman Bates' kitchen knife: up and down, up and down... Read More
Boise Weekly - By Kelly Lynae Robinson on January 2nd, 2008
Boise-based metal band Kryterium plays adrenaline-pumped, aggressive, scream metal. The band makes no attempt at genre evangelism; its music is for the established metal lover. And with a new CD, Control, coming out early this year, the band is testing its hard work and beyond-all-reason-dedication to its fan base to see if it pays off... Read More
