Hätte James Brown zusammen mit Moloko die Songs von Prince und Radiohead gecovert, dann hätte das ein bisschen wie k-tharsis geklungen – wie Urban-Funk aus St. Gallen. Die Band k-tharsis vermischt elektronische Grossstadt-Musik mit Funk- und Breakbeat-Elementen. Daraus resultieren treibende Beats, soulige Melodien und wummernde Bässe, oder eben: Urban-Funk. Der Sänger Raoul Nagel wirbelt Geschichten erzählend, singend und rappend über die Bühne und animiert die fünf Musiker zu einer schweisstreibenden Performance.
Seit 2003 besteht k-tharsis in der heutigen Formation und veröffentlichte 2005 ihre erste EP «Combination 6». Nach zahlreichen Konzerten im In- und Ausland folgte 2009 in Zusammenarbeit mit Hinterhaus-Records das Album «what you gonna do?».
Das Wort «Katharsis» steht für Abreaktion, ein Ausleben von angestauten Empfindungen. Die St. Galler Formation zelebriert dies live auf der Bühne und begeistert mit einfallsreicher und tanzbarer Musik, die einen so schnell nicht mehr loslässt.

If James Brown and Moloko had covered songs by Prince and Radiohead, it would have sounded a bit like k-tharsis - like Urban Funk from St. Gallen. The band k-tharsis mixes electric Big City Music with Funk and Breakbeat elements. Out of this arise driving beats, soulful melodies and booming bass - in other words: Urban Funk. Singer Raoul Nagel tellingly spins out stories while singing and rapping on stage, animating the five musicians to a sudorific performance.
K-tharsis, comprising of its current members since 2003, released their first EP "Combination 6" in 2005. After numerous concerts at home and abroad, the new album "what you gonna do?" followed in 2009, in cooperation with Hinterhaus-Records. The word "Katharsis" stands for an abreaction (a catharsis), a letting out of pent-up emotions. The St. Gallen group celebrates this live on stage and inspires the audience with inventive and dance-worthy music that they won't soon forget.
