My father is a Jazz musician, and probably my chief influence in musical style. He exposed me to many types of music growing up, from pure obscure artsy stuff to R&B to Soul to Gospel to Heavy Metal. I would say who he is, but I kinda have that parents on the internet issue. Heheh...
I've also met many people from many different places, and took a liking to modern Arab music, some J-rock, and other Asian music.
I also owe ALOT to the artists like Quincy Jones, Vernon Reid and the bands Living Color and Hootie and the Blowfish, for breaking the stereotypes about what kind of music is socially acceptable for Black people to perform. I thank them for shattering the barriers most beautifully.
I'm just a former band nerd playing around with MODplug Tracker and other sound editing software. I believe that music is worth making, even as a hobby. Not everyone is a musician, but everyone who has music in their soul, should let it out.
A person with no hands or feet, who can only type with their eye movements or tongue should be a musician if it's in them. This is why I like using the computer as an instrument. The day I have pressed my last key on a piano, or blown my last note on a flute, I will still be able to make music until I die or lose my mind.
Feel free to join my friends list, and don't be shy. I like to listen to other people's music too. Tay Zonday is like one of my heroes, and I know there are others out there with music to share.
