About me:
with grace jones' slave to the rhythm 12" single being my first own (music) record in the early eighties (really cool, isn't it...!?) and a growing interest in music during my teen years I developed a deep love to hip hop and black/urban culture focussing on the usual suspects from the westcoast like ice-t, ice cube and n.w.a. later on I got to know the more conscious side of rap mainly from nyc with artists like pete rock & c.l. smooth, krs-one, eric b. & rakim, gang starr and the native tongues (a tribe called quest, de la soul, brand nubian etc.). fascinated by dj techniques I had never seen before it was just a matter of time (and money) that I bought my first technics turntable (my parents' record player wasn't satisfying any more) and started spending as much money as i could on vinyl records...
in the late nineties (as a result of growing older, probably...) my musical taste broadened and I fell in love with club orientated electronic sounds (from deep house to minimal and intelligent techno) while still digging for old soul & funk breaks and disco stuff.
of course, there is nothing wrong about good ol' rock music, so whenever there is "the next big thing" from indie-uk, I'll certainly give it a try...
