On January 3rd 2008 Kublakai, dropped "The Basics", 17 tracks, 62 minutes of hip hop that makes you listen and keeps you listening. Kublakai's debut has him delivering a plethora of different styles over a variety of producers beats dealing with about just as many different topics. He doesn't hesitate to tackle issues such as being self informed(power food), addiction(doctor's prescription), gossip(whisper, whisper), political injustice(corruption) and the lack of depth in hip hop (see entire album). And yet somehow he manages, even after dealing with subjects that vary so completely from the absurd to the heavy hearted, to leave you walking away from your listening experience with a smile. He see's the light in dark and simple in the complex and makes you move while you ponder it...
