About me:
K.U.D. KOLO, the Folk Dancing Ensemble based in Geelong, Victoria was established in August 2006 under the Choreographic Directorship of Nikola Jovic. The group has been created in honour, spirit of the legendary Serbian National Folk Dance Ensemble "KOLO" in Belgrade, Serbia .
KOLO Geelong, initiated as a social congregation of dancers who wanted to further their folkloric skills and knowledge under the instruction of experienced choreographer and professional dancer of 35 years, Nikola Jovic. At a recreational and amateur level, they are concentrated on preserving and presenting the traditional dance, song and costume of the Serbian people.
KOLO is as independent ensemble, with a repertoire of dances historically based on the different provinces of Serbia, expressing through music and dance the mentality the history and the status of a region and its people.
Ladies and Gentlemen - KOLO hopes that you enjoy their various performances which do not so much showcase the culture of a country, but rather the many stories of a nation – the Serbs.
