Biography
I come from Port Antonio, Jamaica, in the heart of the jungle, where the grass is always green. I was a fisherman, a diver, a footballer, a singer, a percussionist, a sculptor, and a cook. It was fun living there. It was an amazing experience growing up there with cooking, eating, playing drums into the night, chanting, and burning ganja by King David on the hilltop. My teenage years were great.
I was introduced into really loving music as a whole, through soul music. Every day at 2 to 3 O’clock Barry Gordon would come onto the JBC radio and I would sit there and listen to him every afternoon.
I was never involved in any music institute, I only sung through the choir. My family never had any sort of instrument, a guitar was a luxurious item I did not have the fortune to own. I had a breakthrough in my life in understanding music when I was thirteen, as I was singing with a group of people on the beach, I realized it wasn’t only about singing, but also about tune, melody, and tempo. At this moment I realized I was a singer in my heart. I got involved in open mics and performing in the streets for the people. I was just a little man then, I was not the best, but I just wanted to show the world what was inside of me.
I decided to come to Germany and when I was 18 to seek financial opportunities, to try to get out of the economic struggle my people face back in Jamaica. I first performed live in Germany in 1992, the same year I relocated there. Since then I have spent much time back in Jamaica refining my art.
With this group Fireblack was only allowed to perform one song on the album, One Earth.
He separated with this group over creative differences in 1997.
Since then Fireblack has collaborated on many albums
His last single being Eye Water.
Fireblack's next album will be titled Elemental.
1% of ALL money Fireblack makes on his new CD, Elemental, available soon for order, will be given to the Rasta School in Jamaica.
Fireblack is currently searching for a good publisher and a good label to start relations with in order to bring the music onto the international market.

“My cat leaps around the garden fence Pouncing on anything that moves There’s no defence Sleeps for hours and sometimes days Bathing in the summer rays Hibernating in the winter cold Prowling, howelling meowing so bold My cat is quick, sleek, reactions unique If I ever return as a bird or a mouse then I am going to leave my house When I am due to travel away my cat sulks for days Moody before and then turns his back as I return to the door Feeding him food from a tin Is considered by my feline friend a cardinal sin He sits and looks at me in disgust This is not what I want for my breakfast. “Give me lean chicken, salmon or fresh beluga Or I’ll slash the side of your chair like Freddy Kruger My claws are sharp I will reduce your coat To the texture and look of an old Nanny goat I go to sit in my favourite chair In front of the fire and guess whose there! Asleep in my bed I awake with surprise As a purring nose pokes me straight in the eyes! I now understand the word perfection Is all about my cats affection Even when he wreaks the place I live A look from those saucer green eyes makes me forget and forgive. My cat has a spiritual link, a supernatural perception Something that humans have no connection I can only watch look and admire all of that Oh…I forgot to mention. My cat is An Acrobat.”
