| About Kumfy Klub |
Kumfy Klub began in 1998 when uni friends Andrew Peters (DJ Smiley) and Marcus Motteram came up with the idea of a club night offering groovy music, friendly faces and a house party vibe in the casual surroundings of a hotel instead of a nightclub. They invited seasoned DJ and promoter Brad Coles (who’d already had success with his Lounge Sweet nights) to join them and on Saturday February 14 1998, it all began.
On the first Saturday of the month for five years, Kumfy Klub at the Crown & Sceptre Hotel offered punters a unique club experience complete with oodles of couches, funky visuals, retro décor and yummy koktails! With local funk bands, percussionists and DJs playing house, breaks, beats, hip hop and funk over three areas, it became huge success with 500-700 heads coming through each month.
From 2003-2008, Kumfy Klub changed to a seasonal format (4-5 shows/year) to ensure it remained an event that people really looked forward to. And with the formula still the same, Kumfy Klub became the longest running regular club night in Adelaide. Now Kumfy Klub runs just the one party every year, usually around July/August.
Kumfy Klub has also hosted a number of larger scale events for over 1000 people including NYE 98-99 at Stonyfell Winery, and Kumfy Klub At The Shores 2005 & 2006.
