Kumina.org was founded in Helsinki, Finland in 2006 by Ahonen, Packalén and Kanerva. In 2007 kumina.org published a now retired web EP "Live at Treenikämppä". The band released it's debut album "Entropia" in December 2008. In the spring of 2009 kumina.org got a new member in the multi-talented mr. Söderholm followed by the awesome mr. Matti Äijänen on guitar in the fall of 2009.
Kumina.org's music is a cross between instrumental prog and fusion with strong emphasis on energetic playing, groove and improvisation with its roots mostly in the European music tradition.
Kindered spirits in the music scene are bands such as Niacin and Medeski Martin and Wood. Our dear listeners have also, while applauding kumina.org for it's originality, found some of the spirit of ELP, Gong, Return to Forever and Mahavishnu Orchestra in our music.

The band's members are:
- mr. Ahmed Ahonen, keyboards. Ahmed has in the past played in the reknown Finnish prog bands Kuha. and Discordia, among others. Known for his fascination of the Hammond organ sound, he is also an avid life-long fan of Deep Purple.
- mr. Matti Kanerva on drums. Matti has a strong jazz background and has performed and recorded with front row Finnish jazz and prog musicians such as Jani Malmi Group and Jani Malmi Trio as well as Flu-Band. Matti is also the drummer of the power fusion trio
Trio Trout.
- mr. Jukka Packalén on bass. Jukka played together with Matti for the first time 20 years ago in the late 80's in Kaarle Mannila's band. Today he plays with Matti besides in kumina.org, also as the guitarist of Trio Trout. He has also played in several rock bands, the most renown of which is Baysix. Jukka is also a Freak Guitar Camp veteran and head of the Finnish ICS speed composition lodge.
- mr. Fredrik Söderholm on flute, keyboards and percussion. Fredrik has a training in classical music as well as popular music and jazz and is a long-time musical partner of Jukka. Fredrik is also a member of the Finnish ICS lodge.
- mr. Matti Äijänen on guitar. Jukka and Matti met in unlikely circumstances performing Billy Idol in the Firmarock happening. The rapport was immediate, and Matti was asked to join kumina.org, allowing Jukka to concentrate on playing bass. Matti is known for his guitarism in the kalevalasque metal band Airut.

Tottahan toki levy kuunneltiin heti saapumisen jälkeen oikein ajan kanssa ja analysoiden moneen kertaan eka viikon aikana isoilla kamoilla ja isoilla valoilla ;) Taytyy sanoa, että pitkään aikaan en ole kokenut itse musiikista hyviä viboja. Biisien rakenteet ovat paikoittain hyvinkin erilaisia, mitä olen tottunut kuulemaan. Biisien teemat ja osat vain soljuivat eteenpäin välillä vyöryenkin. Instrumenttien iloinen karkelointi ja pyrähdykset varsinkin basso-osastolla naulitsi kuulijan. Huikeaa!! Äänimaailma ja atmosfääri muuttuu heleästä melodiasta aina mättöosastolle asti. Itse levystä voisi sanoa, että minua kiinnosti suunnattomasti kaikki levyvihkoon kirjatut nyanssit eri biiseissä käytetyistä 'tuotantovälineistä'. Levy seisoo kirjastossani kunniapaikalla!
