Between 1992 and 1995 the german electronic band KUNSTBLOCK recorded a list of songs where they combined such diverese influences as EBM, Punk, Hardcore, Heavy Metal and New Wave.
Most of these songs were original material, the rest consisted of electronic versions of songs by bands like Discharge, Tubeway Army and Crass and some early tracks were released on the Do Not Oppose The Unity demotape in 1993.
KUNSTBLOCK attempted to translate the Do It Yourself (DIY) attitude that dominated the counterculture of the 1980s into the field of electronic music and electronic art. They produced all songs themselves, created flyers and other original artwork, some of which can be found here.
Martin Ederer quit the band in late 1993 leaving the remaining members Frank Schroeder and Peter Zeitler to carry on as a duo. They wrote and recorded a list of demo songs that were originally supposed to be on their debut album.
The record never materialised because the band had stopped rehearsing and playing together in mid 1995, when Schroeder and Zeitler decided to part ways and concentrate on other projects.
Thanks to the "Web 2.0" some of the KUNSTBLOCK work gets a late and unexpected release at last, with tunes being available here and on last fm, where they can also be downloaded.
The songs featured here are all original tunes to be on the safe side concerning potential copyright issues.
Note: All music was recorded close to 15 years ago on analog equipment for demo purposes. Therefore the sound quality may display certain limitations when compared to current recordings.
