"THE GONE MEKANIK ANTICIPATION DEMONSTRATION"
If the quirky band name and demo title didn't give the game away, then a quick peruse of the bio surely does. "Sydney based Kunvuk was formed in 2002 with the intent to create honest and unpredictably unique heavy music". Yep, this shit is straight out of a lunatic asylum.
Despite the raw, garage production which results in the drums pounding your head like a demented woodpecker on PCP, and despite the crazy fucking whacked out songs, this three tracker is actually ok. Admittedly I don't get to hear this type of "music" every day, which is just as well as it's nuttier than Frank Zappa conducting a room full of babbling
psycho's who are trying to play System of a Down songs backwards. Off kilter doesn't even begin to tell the story. This is crazed vocals flying in from different angles with an absolutely fucked up musical score to match. This truly is the stuff of nightmares. - Steve Green, Live4Metal.com
"...in these three pieces alone you will find more ideas than in tens and tens of the metalcore releases of the last two years...the band explodes in the most unexpected shapes with 'In Anticipation Of Doom' and 'Gone' extraordinary examples of cruelty in music..." - Dagheisha.com
"...definitely a piece of honest and soul-crushing technical and groovy metal...very bizarre and intense..." - Metal Revolution Webzine

“We are sick to death of the lazy, contrived, stagnant and dishonest ways bands choose to carry themselves and their music. We have created the antithesis. We have created Kunvuk.”
Sydney-based band Kunvuk was formed in 2002 with the intent to create honest, confounding and unpredictably unique heavy music. The result is what has been described as unhinged groove metal by some and doom-laden, punk-laced, death-charged metal by others. With musical comparisons to System of a Down, Pantera, Lamb of God and Mr Bungle, they tackle complex lyrical themes revolving around the insanity and desperation of our everyday internal and external struggles.
In 2008 Kunvuk traversed the country-side playing numerous shows in venues around Sydney and regional New South Wales. From regular slots at the Sandringham, Lansdowne and the Lewisham hotels, to extending outwards through places such as Wyong, Wollongong and Wagga Wagga, Kunvuk spread their music far and wide. Kicking off 2009 with a headlining spot at the Lewisham Hotel's Abduction nightclub and a slot playing at Club Blink on Broadway on March the 6th, they will be in and out of the live scene as they self-record and release their as-yet-untitled debut album, which is scheduled for release around June 2009. Following this will be a nation-wide tour in support of the album stretching as far north, south, east and west as musically and geographically possible.
Catalysed around the creative core of David Hart and Simon Edwards, the bands line-up is filled out by drummer Trina Tuffy and bassist Luis Barra. After an exhaustive search that lasted five years, the right combination of explosive personalities have been drawn together to deliver the level of energy and dedication demanded by Kunvuk. As Simon recalls, “It really started for me as a reaction to or rebellion against mediocrity. The normality of life that so many people consider to be satisfactory I just can’t stomach. Other people who feel this way are few and far between.” With this new found stability the focus has now shifted to building a comprehensive sonic vision of what the band represents and inflicting it upon fans of the strangely honest across the world through live dissemination and the consumption of plastic discs and digital anomalistic clusters.

Kunvuk is created. Kunvuk is born. Kunvuk is everything that follows. - David Hart,
prophesizing in megalomaniacal tones to a procession of homeless. Please proceed on the downbeat.
Whether we have failed or succeeded does not matter. We have shaken our axes and ground down the
wood and this is what we have left.
We were many but now are few. We have survived heart-attacks, hospitalisations, incarcerations and a
litany of failures. Even now most of us are homeless and relying on the kindness of strangers. Hand to
mouth doesn’t even describe the situation. Instruments are stolen, surviving on what electricity we can
steal from the public domain. Our internet is pulled from the grid of your unsecured wireless networks.
Computers built from the scum that you threw away.
This environment has naturally had a hair-reducing effect on some of the members, the constant
losing and gaining of weight overflowing into the confines of song and melody. The sheen you have come
to expect in your digital world has been corroded by your bleach-filled needles. We despise the
sterility of your bubble-gum sonic dirges and hold you responsible for your own flaccidity of
standards.
Wasabi, vinegar and the flicker tube of glowing minds. The trinity. The End game. Silencene
expanding, contracting, collapsing.
To summarise:
KUNVUK – Undermining your expectations since 2002.
Mouth-eaters and priests beware, these are the serrated edges along which the lines of reason are drawn. We are pulled down and in by your manipulation of the senses and confused by your contradictory stance inherent in your convoluted and ill-advised actions. When the extreme manifests from the fringes into our living rooms, and we espouse mock horror as our children side with the enemy, where doth the angle of blame lie? The answer is everywhere. Embrace the unravelling of senses and stay focused. You may just be the end...
This show will be the first Australian east coast performance by The Amenta's
