The Kuranda Amphitheatre is a not-for-profit organisation. Run solely by Volunteers, mainly from the small Kuranda community. All our proceeds go back into the Amphitheatre, to further develop and upgrade our venue, and to run our monthly members' social nights at the Understage. Our mantra is to support the arts within our community.
To keep our doors
open to host more amazing events at our beautiful venue we need your support ... Become a Member of the Kuranda Amphitheatre
Our yearly membership is
SINGLE $15 FAMILY (2ad 3ch) $20
FOCUS THEATRE MEMBERSHIP $5
Membership forms available at Roots Festival at the Amphi merchandising stall, and at the Understage.
Check out what people have been saying about the Dark Shades of Blue Tour:
"…pure entertainment the duo enchants the audience with sounds and rhythms ranging
from dance to funk, from pop to rock through the blues and African tribal rhythms, a literally explosive mixture…”
- Newsway - Arezzo, Italy
“The opening fifteen minutes of Rudd’s performance had the audience bouncing uncontrollably to a heady fusion of
throbbing lap-guitar riffs and huge, almost tribal beats.”
- Daily Music Guide – Bristol, UK
“…his brilliance both musically and lyrically captivated everyone almost instantly.”
- Isthmus, Daily Page - Madison, WI, USA
“With his new collection of experimental tunes meshing so well with his renowned folk-rock ability, Xavier Rudd's
performance proved that he has the talent and the appeal to become Australia's Bob Dylan.”
- InsideVandy, Vanderbilt University - Nashville, TN, USA
The Focus Theatre is an autonomous group, yet still a core part of the Kuranda Amphitheatre Society, and Membership
costs just $5 when you're a member of the Kuranda Amphitheatre. Focus meets every Wednesday night at the Understage, for play readings,
theatre games and miscellaneous shennanegans.. All are welcome!
The ever-popular local band "Juice" appeared at the Understage on
December 15th 2008 Those of you who are already part of our regular crew at Member's Nights don't need to be reminded
of how good they are, but in the spirit of fairness we should spread the joy, and tell the rest of the world about the
sheer awesomeness that our member's nights are constructed from. And you don't even have to be a Member of the
Amphitheatre!! Just come along, Doors and Bar open at 6:30, and the Entry Bribe is generally about $8. Once inside,
you can DANCE! We GIVE you food, for FREE! If you give US money, we'll give YOU alcomahol! You can STAND
UP! You can SIT DOWN! You can use our toilets!! And you can hang out with the coolest people in the whole world,
the Debonair Denizens of KurandaVille!
If you’re wanting to hear some different funky tunes, with high energy,
dynamic arrangements and captivating visual presence, then let 5 piece band ‘JUICE’ entertain you and provide that
perfect atmosphere. There’s a wealth of experience between the players, comprising of Elias Wright (vocals,
percussion) Willy Kepa (drums, vocals) Giles Smith (bass, vocals) Andree Baudet (saxophone, keys, vocals) and
Zdenek Styk (guitar, keys, vocals) Members have both played and recorded on the local scene and overseas with the
likes of John Williamson, Dragon, Semen Dan, Paul Hester (Crowded House), David Hudson, The Funky Love Tank,
Muthafunk and Hip Fidelity just to name a few…. Able to adapt to the requirements of the venue, whether it be a club,
corporate function or a special event, and an extensive repertoire which includes songs from James Brown, Cat
Empire, Tower of Power, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Average White Band, plus some old time favourites from Bill
Withers, Doobie Brothers, Aretha Franklin and The Neville Brothers, to suit any occasion, JUICE guarantee to fulfil.
Early in 2008 the Amphitheatre's thespian contingent, "Focus", produced a fantastic Two-Night Romantic Comedy.
An original work, produced and directed by Diana Monaghan, "After Passion" certainly did not disappoint; both nights
were well-attended by both locals and new-comers, and Focus made innovative use of the space available, seating the
audience up on the main stage, right amongst the action!
Many people were pleased to see that amongst the performers all age groups were represented, and the
vigour and enthusiasm of the whippersnappers was well-tempered by the age and experience of the "Old Hands"!
The beautiful photos directly below were taken by "Kezta" at the 2007
Waifs gig..
Live music, Theatre, Circus workshops, Festivals... the list goes on and on.
Whatever your interests, the Kuranda Amphitheatre is sure to provide the perfect setting.

We've been host to the best in local, national and international entertainment for over 25 years. John Butler Trio, UB40, The Waifs, Xavier Rudd, The Wailers, Slim Dusty, INXS, Silverchair, Jackson Browne, Missy Higgins, The Cruel Sea and many more have graced our stage. The premier outdoor venue in North Queensland also has an intimate 200 person nightclub venue -The Understage, perfect for small shows

LOL this is crazy! And it only works if you have Internet Explorer (I think). You have to go to www . retwistic . com (no spaces) and then after it loads you need to hit the back button or else the funny video won't come up. If that doesn't work then hit the forward button instead.
Just letting you know we've put up our first album for download if you're interested... available from our profile page from the
Soundstation Player.. which allows you to leave a video or voice message also, we'd love to see you on it! We'd also like to give thanks to you all for your kind feedback & support. Hope all'z well, have a Top one!
One day all you will hear will be the Brute Squad. Traditional conversation will be practically redundant. Most communication will be through hand gestures and licking; one lick means yes etc.
