Thanks for stopping by! I always had a passion for music, but it wasn't until I was almost 17 that I finally picked up the guitar. I practiced constantly - only putting it down when I had to (if you know what I mean). About a year later I started a band with some friends. We weren't very good at the time, but we loved playing so we rehearsed 3 - 5 times a week and soon were playing live shows. Later that year I started college, but the only thing I was really passionate about was music so I filled my schedule with music classes for the first 2 years. My favorite was playing in the jazz guitar ensemble, but I also studied music theory, classical guitar, and sight reading. It was interesting to learn more about music, but I really wanted to play rock/metal.
At the time I wasn't sure what I wanted to major in, but I knew that I wanted to play in a band. I traveled around the country in a wide variety of bands playing both cover and original music. I also started writing songs and joined a progressive metal band that recorded 3 demos. I loved the studio so I was also involved in recording on other projects at various studios as well. It all seemed great, but the lifestyle drew me down a dark path. Eventually I lost all sense of right and wrong. I made a lot of bad choices and consequently didn't like the person I had become. I knew something needed to change...
Then God really turned my life around. I used to think this kind of a story sounded strange, but I found out that He's the real thing. Anyhow, enough said - I hope you like the music! If you would like to hear more or pick up a copy of the cd it's available at www.independentbands.com or on itunes. You can also go www.kurtbeckman.com to order a copy and read more of the story.

How have things been? Have you been sharing your music out there? I notice you have a CA gig coming up next week. I ran into a couple at a Gideons meeting here in Surprise who knew you. I can't remember their names now. But it's a small world isn't it? They brought you up to me, & I shared our experience over at that Phoenix showcase.. That was an interesting weekend..
Guess who might become "parents" for 20 kids? Three guesses and the first two don't count! Going for an interview Monday afternoon! Maybe THAT's what we moved to Arizona for? Glad you're at E3...hope you find a home...we might try Mesa...just let God lead...shouldn't even have to "test the water" you know? Keep in touch! Love you!
