Kurt Bestor is an American composer, arranger, and performer. For more than a two decades, Kurt Bestors film scores, television themes, compositions and carols have provided an indelible soundtrack for American life. Indeed, much of Bestors own life has been dedicated to creating musical parallels to visual images.
Perhaps best known for his innovative interpretation of seasonal carols on Kurt Bestor Christmas, Volumes One and Two, the Utah-based composer and performer launched his career writing music for television and movies. His credits include more than 30 film scores and more than 40 themes for national TV programs and commercials. It is Bestors music that has introduced Good Morning America, NFL Monday Night Football, and ABCs Sunday Night Movie; he scored TBSs Wild! Life Adventures and the IMAX film Great American West. He also was given the Outstanding Film Score Award at the New York Film and Television Festival for his music for PBSs A More Perfect Union. Bestor was awarded am Emmy for his collaboration with Sam Cardon on the original music for ABCs coverage of the 1988 Winter Olympics.
Bestors concerts are major productions, but his warm storytelling and humor create an intimate rapport with his audience. Its a bit like Garrison Keillormeets- John Williams, he laughs. The year 2006 marks Bestors 18th year of sold-out Christmas shows.
In spring of 2000, Bestors easy-going manner and rapport with audiences were showcased in the PBS concert filming of his Innovators album, with Sam Cardon. The nationwide special was so successful that a follow-up Innovators II: Keepers of the Flame has been produced for release in conjunction with the 2002 Olympic celebrations.
In August of 2001, Bestors composing and conducting talents were highlighted as part of Sea Trek 2001, when the powerful Saints on the Seas Oratorio was performed in major European cities against the backdrop of some of the worlds most beautiful concert halls.
In February 2002, Bestor conducted his "The Flags of the Nation Processional," a composition co-written with fellow composer Sam Cardon, and specially commissioned as part of Olympic Closing Ceremonies. In early 2003, Bestor entered the studio to begin work on his next album, which follows his previous 19 CDs, including The Dance, Sketches, Seasons, Evening Angels, Kurt Bestor Christmas Vol. I & II, Noel and One Silent Night. He is also conducting an exciting new stage show, A Night At The Movies, in partnership with the Utah Symphony orchestra. The show debuted in May 2003 at Abravanel Hall and was recently performed with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
There was a point in my life when fear and despair seemed to overwhelm and burden my soul with darkness- Then, by some miracle, as I stepped outside one day, a single autumn leaf fell at my feet. No other leaves were in sight. This single leaf brought me to tears. A sign of something beautiful in my life- a symbol of positive change to come-all written for my eyes that day, imprinted in the delicate colours of an autumn leaf.
Only love is real. All that is negative is illusion. It simply does not exist. If anything negative is in your consciousness, it is real only because you give it reality by holding it in your mind. Illusions are investments. They will last as long as you value them. The only way to dispel illusions is to withdraw all investment from them, and they will have no life for you, because you will have put them out of your mind.
think love.... feel love....speak love.... be love.
Sólo el amor es real. Todo lo que es negativo es una ilusión. Simplemente no existe.
I shot an arrow into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where; For, so swiftly it flew, the sight Could not follow it in its flight. I breathed a song into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where; For who has sight so keen and strong, That it can follow the flight of song? Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke; And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend. H. W. Longfellow
