I consider myself to be a singer/songwriter. To put a label on my music is always hard, but we will go with Folk with a pinch of country, and a dash of pop. I have literally hundreds of songs. Some only I’ve heard, some only my wife has heard, and some only my kids have heard, but it is what I do, and it’s what I enjoy… for better or worse.
I have yet to find what I exactly want out of music. I’m a pretty private person so I don’t really want fame (not that I need to worry), but I guess it would be cool to be remembered as a good songwriter, and someone that gave a hand to a music scene.
I’ve been involved in a few projects along this ride. First was Commonplace, then a short stint in Free Radio, and currently in Gunn & Bordini. I’ve also had a few attempts at going solo. I’ve had the opportunity to perform with some amazing performers, and perform in some amazing places. I released a solo EP in 2008 titled “This & That EP”. I pressed a hundred copies, and to date I think I have about 20 left. Good thing I didn’t go for a thousand. Anyway that is music for you. Putting a finger on what people want in music use to make me go crazy. Now all I do is do what I do, throw it against the wall and hope that it sticks.
I also currently founded a new project titled “Wisconsin Songwriters Revival”. The purpose of the Revival is to help music lovers discover the amazing group of people in Wisconsin that write and perform their own music. It is pretty ground floor right now, but I have high hopes for it. Check it out in my top friends.
I don’t know that I’ll perform live forever. I know that I will always be doing something with music, and always writing songs. So as long as there is an outlet I’ll be charged.
