ABOUT KURT KREIMIER

I am an Electronic Wind Instrument (EWI) Artist and Composer writing and performing Electronic, Jazz and Classical influenced instrumental music. I also play sax but prefer the EWI which fingers and blows pretty much like a sax but I have a much greater variety of sounds I can use. I am also a Christian and it is my hope that through my music and witness people will grow closer to knowing the love of God.

Although my true musical passions are playing the EWI and composing, the vast majority of my musical development took place playing jazz saxophone in and around Chicago, San Jose and Orlando. In addition to performing in the Jazz idiom, I have also performed in Classical, POP, Contemporary Christian, Funk, Latin, Blues, Rock and Reggae Groups. The majority of my performance career has centered on playing alto and tenor saxophone in jazz big bands, worship bands and wedding bands. I have had the opportunity to play with some of the best local musicians in the Chicago, San Jose and Orlando Areas. Some of the more notable big bands I have performed with would include The Don Scaletta Jazz Project, The Bill O'Connell Big Band, The Swing Solution and The Loren Golden Big Band Express. I was also a regularly featured performer with the Willow Creek Community Church Music Ministry and the South Valley Community Church Music Ministry.

I also work at SeaWorld Orlando where I am employed as a Show Audio and Show Control Operator. Although I have worked every show in the park I now spend all of my time at the Believe (Shamu) and Shamu Rocks Shows. Previously I worked in the Telecommunications Industry where I held a variety of Staff, Management and Executive positions. I have also worked as a Music and Music Technology Educator.

I received a BA Degree in Music with Honors from Northeastern Illinois University where I played in the Jazz Ensemble and one of two Jazz Combos at the school. During my years at Northeastern Illinois University we were regarded as one of the top collegiate big bands in the nation. We were awarded Outstanding Big Band Honors several years in a row at both the Elmhurst Collegiate Jazz Festival and the prestigious Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival. Other well known members of this band included saxophonist Art Porter, trumpeter Rod McGaha, trumpeter Mike Mossman, bassist Kenny Davis, vibraphonist Jim Cooper and drummer Greg Rockingham.

My high school years found me playing alto and tenor sax in the McHenry Illinois High School Concert and Jazz Bands, as well as the contra bass and baritone bugles in two Chicago Area Drum & Bugle Corps, The McHenry Viscounts and The Des Plaines Vanguard.
