THE BAND
Short Band Introduction
Kurtz was formed in May 2003 in Copenhagen.
The debut Album
Kurtz debut album Bomb My Head is produced by the legendary Flemming Rasmussen in his Sweet Silence Studios.
The name Kurtz
Kurtz is inspired by Marlon Brando's character Colonel Walter E. Kurtz in Apocalypse Now from 1979.
Kurtz is pronounced the English way (i.e. Curts).
Denmark and Italy - united in music
Pier and Gorm originally formed the band together in Aalborg, Denmark. They started writing together, and under the name Sonida they took off to London and Stockholm, where they lived under rather tough conditions with the other members of Sonida. A record deal was close, but the band went their separate ways as patience and luck ran out - Pier went back to Italy and Gorm to Copenhagen.
Gorm started looking for new band members in Copenhagen. He recruited Kenneth "Drumboy" as a drummer and shortly after, Jesper joined as lead singer - mainly because of his extensive collection of Morten Harket posters. Gorm recorded the bass for live performances, which worked out well for some time. All fell in to place though when Tim contacted the band in the summer of 2005. Tim has got other talents aside from the bass though. He is actually the director and producer of the video for "Push My Love".
Writing in cyberspace - the second rehearsal room
The writing process in the band is quite rare. Most of the songs come to life via Skype, which is the easiest (and cheapest) way to communicate between Copenhagen and Bologna. The songs are further developed in the rehearsal room in Copenhagen before ending up in the live set and/or on an album.
