Kusikia recently, solemnly, and excitedly moved to Portland, Oregon in January 2009 from Tacoma, Washington, where we met and lived happily for over two years! Our most current release, TURTLE WARS, is our second album, which we self-released in October ‘08 after a lot of hard work and procrastination. Tho we are proud of TURTLE WARS, nothing conveys the raw intensity of Kusikia like our live shows :)
These days we are laying low in Portland, and are planning to release our new songs soon, possibly on a split or two with friends, as well as an ep of improvisations from the TURTLE WARS recording sessions.
For booking, questions, comments, or love letters, please email kusikia@gmail.com, or message us here
ps- kusikia is a verb in Kiswahili that means "to hear" and "to feel"
for those unsure - koo-see-kee-ah - say it really fast three times over and you're good
Dear Sound Off! Friends, You’re invited to join EMP|SFM’s new afterhours dance party, which will feature live music, cheap drinks and surprises throughout the evening and into the morning on Aug1. Start the night out right, and get your inner-Muppet on for an Animal drumming competition! Drums and sticks will be provided, animalistic tendencies—that’s all you, baby. Dance to music by local rap-pop-rock legends The Saturday Knights, the deliciously funky Eldridge Gravy & the Court Supreme and wunderkind spin master DJ Electro Wolf. Enjoy $3 beers and other drink specials throughout the night. Discount code for Sound Off! friends on MySpace only: yourspace. Get the tickets at: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/72933. See you on Aug 1.
Please stop by and take a listen to the songs that we have up. We are going to be taking down a few of them soon. So let us know which tune is your favorite, maybe it will be one of the final songs we leave up!
