Kyle Dawkins knows how to play guitar. Not only that, but he can read it, make out with it, research its storied past, and sit on a stage with three other of his ilk and spin the avant garde into the accessible and back again. As a member of the Georgia Guitar Quartet, Dawkins has enjoyed a large measure of success in some esteemed circles. He released the solo guitar album Conasauga in 2002, and an ambient/ electronic album called Walls Became the World in 2005.
Far from eschewing his love for things that are plucked, his brand of bedroom electronic music incorporates guitar, banjo and any number of things with strings, weaving them into ambient billows awoken by pastoral folk and caffeinated by beats with one foot on the dance floor.
This isn't as far from the GGQ as he could get, but it's a decided and refreshing difference. "Tendrils" and "Our Happy Life" are the two most readily available tracks to sample. Both could fit comfortably on a Warp Records release were it not for the key ingredient in their sound: an organic touch over which the laptop never gains dominance. There's never a sense that anything is straying too far from beautiful simplicity; rather, there's the feeling one gets when first hearing the Books and their collage technique.
"Kyle Dawkins is a virtuoso...He allies dexterity, invention and soul."
--the All Music Guide
"His playing is nothing short of outstanding...It is very hard to compare this to anything else out there..."
--Expose Magazine
"Seldom does instrumental music grab the listener's attention like Kyle Dawkins' does."
--Indieville
"This is music that you either love or like."
--Mattias Häggström Gerdt

About Kaneel's music:
I’ve Sketched It A While Ago is French musician Guillaume Richard’s first commercial release, and we’re proud at Apegenine to debute another great talent. It would be easy to dub this release ‘ IDM’, but just as Kaneel’s been showing in the netlabel scene for years now, his music is much more than drills and bass. Under the overlaying fuss of glitches and hectic beatwork, Kaneel’s subtle music sinks into nostalgia and tenderness with his explorations into pop melodies. ‘Naïve’ is a term often used to describe Guillaume’s tracks; unstable and ecclectic yet dreamy and welcoming, the result is a sometimes chaotic feud of cuteness and destruction and other times, anthems to blowing bubbles and inspecting clouds.
Always on the move, Guillaume has recently expanded his vision by seting up the petite&jolie (http://www.petitejolie.com) netlabel alongside friend Maxime Lethelier, searching and releasing naive/cute music from all around the world.
