composing songs, writing, my blog, dancing, being peculiar, photography, rain, swinging on hammocks, porch swings, rope swings, and just plain old swings, merry-go-rounds (they are impossible to find these days), adoption & foster care, my family, Italy, Jazz, poetry, religiosity and much more...
Music
I'm very eclectic. I love jazz!
Movies
..
Television
I've found that I don't like tv (I haven't had one in over 5 years. However, tv on DVD is an entirely different thing. I have watched and loved on DVD: Taken, Alias, 24, Lost, West Wing (currently on 4th season), and more. Love the tv on DVD especially the no wait periods between episodes and no commericals...gotta love it!
Books
Making Loss Matter by Rabbi David Wolpe, Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Alcom, Screwtape Letters, The Problem of Pain, A Grief Observed and anything else the C.S. Lewis writes. Anything by Mary Ellen Edmunds (MEE), The Book of Mormon, and of course the Classics. I love poets: Rainer Marie Rilke, Emerson, Poe, Thorough, Whitman, The Brown Sisters and so many more.
Heroes
Leland Grant (Gus) Shields, Heidi Ellen Brinkerhoff and Eric Paul Shields,
Although I miss Boston greatly I headed to Sunny Arizona for grad school in August of 2008. I like it here. I love my masters of social work cohort, my classes, and everything else that goes along with being a student again. I miss Boston something fierce but plan to return when I'm finished with school.
A little about me: I love to sing, play the piano, write music, books, poetry, and I'm a fanatic journal writer-turned blogger! I love to watch people, interact with them and I especially love to work with young adolescent punk teenagers. I'm the oldest of 8 kids and other than the Lord I love my family first and foremost. I love life, I love living the questions and hope to eventually live into the answers.
Who I'd like to meet:
--people who love life
--people who have passion
--people who love to serve
--people who kayak
--people who are adventurous
--People who sometimes skip-just because
--people who want to make others smile

One might ask, "Ryan, Why is the Silver Surfer so great?" To them my reply might be: The Silver Surfer wields “the power cosmic”, absorbing and manipulating the universe’s ambient cosmic energies. He can augment his strength to incalculable levels, and is almost totally indestructible. He can navigate space, hyperspace and dimensional barriers, and can fly at near-limitless speeds on his board, entering hyperspace when he exceeds light speed. He has even proven capable of time travel on occasion. The Surfer does not require food, drink, air or sleep, sustained entirely by converting matter into energy. He is immune to temperature extremes and most radiation, and can survive in vacuum environments such as outer space and hyperspace. He can analyze and manipulate matter and energy, and restructure or animate matter at will, even transmuting elements. He can heal living beings (though he cannot raise the dead), and has proven capable of revitalizing or evolving organic life on a planet wide scale. He can alter the size of himself or of other matter, cast illusions, fire energy blasts, form and manipulate energy constructs, manipulate gravity, absorb and discharge most forms of energy, and phase through solid matter. His senses enable him to detect objects and energies light years away, and to perceive matter and energy in subatomic detail; he can even see through time, and with concentration can achieve limited perception of past and future events in his general vicinity. The Surfer has demonstrated limited telepathic ability on occasion, and has proven able to influence human emotion and sensation.
Man- it just now hit me! You are a fan of Vocal Point...its all making sense now, you must have found me through that somehow. Way to be! Have you seen vocal point this year? They were pretty good- had some good songs. I'm excited...Anyway, hope everything is going well and thanks again. see ya!
