Some Kind Words...
"Gritty, Loud, Definitely poppy. Definitely rock. Pop Rock? {No, those are those candies you used to scare your mom with.} Rock Pop? Yeah, that's it...Chunky guitar backbones...Melodic lead vocals with occasional harmonies....Oh boy that boy can sing!"
---Three Imaginary Girls, July 2003
Kyle Stevens has been writing and performing his brand of Sparkly Rock-Pop in the Seattle area since the age of 13, and still considers the lamp his mom made him use as a mic stand one of the best pieces of equipment he's ever owned. From the age of 13-24, Kyle fronted Seattle based band LAYMANS TERMS and having released 5 albums during that time gained a reputation for delivering intelligent, melodic, well-written rock songs and contagiously energetic performances.
In November of 2007 Kyle released his debut solo E.P., "SONGS FROM THE ORANGE ROOM", and has since been supporting the album with shows all around the Northwest and Hawaii.
The album is an eclectic mix of songs where one can hear Kyle's influences ranging from the pulsing chime of the New Order-ish "Sparkle and Fall", to the Shawn Colvin like nakedness of "This Is Not A Love Song". One of the songs, "Thicker Than Leather", will also be featured on cable channel THE "N" as part of the soundtrack for the hit show "BEYOND THE BREAK" during the upcoming 3rd season (Spring 2009).
