.... .. ...................................................... .... .. ..Full Name:.. Kym Gail Marsh .. ..D.O.B:.. 13.6.1976 .. ..Married?:.. Yes, to former Eastenders actor Jack Ryder.. ..Children:.. David (11) and Emily (8) .. .. .... .. .... .. Kimberley Gail Marsh was born 13th June 1976 in Garswood Lancashire. She was the youngest of four children, having a sister, Tracey, and two brothers, David and John. The family had a musical background, Kym's dad David was in a band named "Ricky And The Dominant Four". .. .. At just 10 years of age Kym had her first singing expierience, singing with a band at the local labour club. She knocked everyone out with a performance of the Cliff Richard song "Living doll", and subsequently joined the Starlight Roadshow, performing at charity events all over the UK. .. .. She also got the part of Kate in the musical "Annie", and worked at improving her singing, by regular practice at home on a karaoke machine. .. .. Kym's dream of having a record deal was realised when she was just 13. She was signed to a small label called Jelly Street Records, and they released her first single, a song called "One Kiss". It entered the charts, giving Kym her first taste of success at an early age. .. .. Kym attended the Elliot Clarke Stage school in Liverpool for two years, but was unhappy at only singing there one day each week, and decided to leave when she was fifteen. .. .. After leaving school Kym worked in a number of jobs including hotel receptionist, and shop assistant. .. .. Before Hear'say Kym had previously had chart hits back in 1997 with Solar Stone, who's single "Day by Day" reached around 80 in the top 100. She also featured on the group's single "Prayer" in 1998. She also has featured on tracks by a small dance act called 2dB, and also spent a short time with a band called Mother Earth... .. ....Hear'Say...... Hear'Say were formed on hit show "Popstars" in 2001. Thousands of people from around the country were auditioned in front of TV cameras to create a 5 piece pop group. Eventually just 5 people were chosen. Kym Marsh, Noel Sullivan, Myleene Klass, Suzanne Shaw, and Danny Foster were the new band Hear'Say. After 6 months of recording, the group were unveiled in April 2001 as they returned from the recording studios of Norway. In March 2001 the group released their debut single Pure and Simple - which went straight to number one in the UK charts. A week later, with Pure and Simple still top of the singles chart, the group released their debut album Popstars - also going to number one. The group made UK chart history as the first artist or group to have a debut single and album at number 1 ... at the same time. 'Pure and Simple' was also named the fastest selling non-charity single in the UK. They also had major hits with "The way to your love" and "Everybody", the title track of the second album. The band had a sold out tour around the UK including singing at Wembley where their fans beat a world record with their loud screaming. Hear'say travelled around the world and met royalty, they even performed for the queen at the Royal Variety Awards and visited downing street at christmas.. .. .. .. ....Leaving the band......... Kym said "In the past week things have been reported that are NOT true. Leaving Hear'Say was something that I had thought about for sometime. I talked to the band and the management. The truth is that I was unhappy. The whole thing wasn't working between the band and me. We all seemed to be pulling in different directions. We wanted different things. We talked about it for a long time and agreed it was better we should part". "People say I had the strongest voice in Hear'Say. That's as maybe. In a years time I hope my voice will be stronger than ever. There are all sorts of plans in the offing. I can't be too specific at the moment. But I can tell you this - I WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!". This was very true! Hear'say went on to get another member, Johnny Shental but then eventually split up after their next single only just squeezed into the top 10.. .. ....Kym & Jack......... Kym first met Jack at the BBC studios when she was performing on "Top of the pops" with Hear'say and he was filming for soap Eastenders. They married in St Albans cathederal on the August 10th 2002 in the presence of 300 family and friends, including many from the cast of Eastenders, and band Liberty X. .. .. .... .. The wedding was covered by OK! magazine for a reported 300,000!.. .. .... .. ....Solo career......... Kym's first single "Cry" was released on April 7th 2003 and was a massive hit for her, peaking at number 2 in the chart! Her second single "Come on over" was also a big hit, providing Kym with her second top 10 hit. Kym's debut album Standing Tall was released and reached the top 10 in the album charts -going gold- not bad for a debut album from a new artist! Kym travelled around the UK promoting the album and performed at places such as Old Trafford football ground. The third single from the album was "Sentimental" and was released with very little record company promotion, so unsurprisingly, failed to make the top 10. .. .. .... ....Kym Marsh the actress......... Kym's next step was an impressive one - a starring role in major West End musical Saturday Night Fever! Kym won great critical acclaim for her role as 'Annette' during her six month run in the show. The reviewer in the Guardian newspaper wrote: 'Kym Marsh glitters as Annette.' And he was quite right! Kym enjoyed more success, when she was invited to perform in the touring production of Saturday Night Fever for a week in Edinburgh... .. .. Kym has also enjoyed a number of straight acting roles on tv, and has been seen recently in 'Doctors', 'Holby City', and even been the subject of an hour long BBC documentary 'My Childhood', that examined Kym's past, to tackle issues that trouble Kym today. Kym has also proved herself as a presenter, on top ITV1 show 'Loose Women'... .. .... .... .. The 2005/6 festive season found Kym performing in Stoke-on-trent, at the Regent theatre, starring as 'Jill' in the Mother Goose panto, alongside top tv personality Jonathan Wilkes, and Corrie's Eric Potts, who also wrote & produced the show... .. .... .. March 2006 found Kym entering 'Making Your Mind Up' to find the UK's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest! Kym didn't win, but she reminded everyone what a superb singer she is, and got some justified rave reviews for her performance!.. .. ....Charity work...... Unlike alot of celebrities, Kym is 100% dedicated to use her name to benefit others, she is heavily involved in charitys such as the Make A Wish foundation (often visiting St Olmond street's children's wards and recently opening the new Miffy Ward). She is also an ambassador of the Born Free charity which last year saw her flying to South Africa to set some white lions free. Kym also judges the Talented Youngster of the Year Awards each year, raising money to send terminally ill children on their dream holiday to Florida. .. ....Coronation Street......... In April 2006 Kym joined top soap Coronation Street, initially just for four episodes. However, it didn't take long for Kym's character 'Michelle' to make her mark! Kym joined the show as a singer auditioning for Vernon's band, and caused friction between band leader 'Vernon' and his girlfriend 'Liz McDonald' straightaway! Kym has agreed to rejoin the Corrie cast in July 2006!.. .. What does the future hold for Kym? Well Kym has proved herself as a highly talented singer, dancer, presenter and actress, as well as being an in demand guest on all manner of tv shows. One thing is for sure. The fiesty young girl who made her name on 'Popstars' is going to be around for a long time yet! .. ..
