Kyoko Oyobe - Born in Okayama, Japan. She started practicing piano at the age of four. At the age of nineteen, she was greatly inspired by the live performance of a great Japanese pianist, Kensaku Tanigawa, and began practicing jazz piano.In 2000 she started traveling to New York to gain more experience in the home of jazz. In 2006 She came to New York and started performing at New York City’s renowned jazz clubs, such as the popular Greenwich Village live jazz club Fat Cat. In 2007 She started performing at the jazz club Fat Cat now regularly with her own band with great success. Her musical collaborators and audiences all agree that she has created her own original sound in music. In March 2008 she started performing with her own band at Smalls jazz club, which is one of the main jazz clubs in New York City. In December 2008 she had the great opportunity to make a live recording of her original music with her trio at Smalls, and her album “ Cookin’ at Smalls” will be released soon.
