l0vel0rn was born in 2004 as a long term virtual project, experimental and cathartic.
Robyn and myself (Marysa) met over the net one fine day, like guided by
psychic forces.
It was uncanny how the two of us knew each other inside out despite never actually having spoken, we were kindred spirits reunited, back from a far away past life journey!
Robyn is from Richmond,Virginia,USA and I am from London despite being born in France and being half Ukrainian.
We quickly became very close friends and as we both had near identical creative influences, we decided to start our own project, keeping it completely in the virtual world, with an ocean between us and only our telepathic minds to lead us through it all.
Robyn is a very dedicated & talented artist who paints passionately, she loves turntables and quirky sounds and vinyls… I love putting abstract feelings and sensations into words, I have been writing for more than twenty years now and I enjoy the texture a word can have, how it can conjure all sorts of images and memories…
I have always wanted to add music to my poems as it always seemed to be the missing element to finally give them their full ambient shape…
Both Robyn & myself are fascinated with the oniric world, the dream world, the fine line between fantasy and reality…it’s also what inspires me when it comes to my texts, a lot of them revolve around characters I have
encountered in dreams, an invisible universe inhabited by ethereal creatures.
The manner in which we work is very unconventional - with an ocean
between us as I mentioned - I record my texts on a little handheld voice recorder and send Robyn the results - we talk about our visions over the phone, and Robyn gracefully adds a musical touch and a mood to it…
There is something very compelling about working this way, it’s very romantic too, like an old epistolarian novel !
Of course at times we have felt the frustration of not being able to meet up round the corner because of the distance and talk about where we want to take the project and work together in the same room…but it’s also the challenging part that is interesting for us!
Oh…and we have since met, it was only natural to meet in the flesh a person you make music with and who you get along so perfectly well with!
l0vel0rn will keep on evolving where our minds take it and only god knows where that will be…
We do plan to take it to different levels indeed!
