Sarcastic (ARTIST INFO)
Founder of Montreal-based underground electronic music pantheon Level 4 Productions this amorphous being has contributed to the subculture's cabalistic causes on many levels since 1993 as DJ, music critic, producer, promoter and label manager. His love for the chugging repetitive nature of techno, acid house and hardcore genres remains informed by an early appreciation for hip-hop, stoner rock, jazz and psychedelia of all sorts. Equally at home behind two or three decks Sarcastic’s diversity as a DJ has allowed him to perform alongside many of his musical mentors: NYC’s Frankie Bones, Detroit ghetto-tech don DJ Assault, Stockholm’s Thomas Krome and Slobodan, London breakbeat stars Freestylers or Deekline, or minimal techno luminaries Deadbeat or Algorithm. Meanwhile Sarcastic’s productions have ranged from minimal to maximal, exploring the outer edges of the electronic music world with the gut-wrenching rave tale Keep Poppin Pills, the emotive Sunshine Blues EP for Pertin-nce, or dark, semi-listenable tracks like Heroin is a Bad Trip. Sarcastic continues to go against the grain, throwing a split fingered fastball at the institutions of authority, knowledge and convention in the ongoing quest for communal and individual expression through sound and music.
Sarcastic

Level 4 Productions (HISTORY/MISSION STATEMENT)
Level 4 Productions have provided an outlet and a second family for some of Montreal's top underground electronica talents through various projects including event organization and promotion, music publishing, radio show broadcasting, graphic design and live performance since the early 1990s. Central tenets include: "If the fool would persist in his folly he would become wise", "one love", and "we're all gonna die". Level 4s record label Standard first brought Kidstatiks productions to the world with the release of Contra Diction, the Tekstyle weekly at Blue Dog (r.i.p.) proved that pure techno could thrive outside of the after-hours milieu, and their continuing growth shows all of us the beauty of living off the beaten path, as it were. Level 4 Productions also owes a lifelong debt to honorary members Mark "the Terminator" Belson, Robin "Freebace" Rae, Ghostbuster "the masked investor" Insaney, Rendo Calrassian, E.A.M.A., Joey ""Cholecystitis" C, Sharon "sharondavies.com" Davies, S.A.G.E., co-conceptualizer Brandon "Crash" Craddock, The Walrus and to all those that have helped define, continue and improve our vision through the years.
Level 4s willingness to work with other promotion companies has led to collaborations with Broken Crew, Nice Productions, In Da Jungle, Kirk6, KOPS Crew, NoiseFloor, Peer Pressure, Morphee, Flatwax and Angry Loner Productions, Millenium Productions, Clonk, Aria, Stereo, Alien Crew, NCV, Global Mastermindz, Route 66 Promotions and many more, producing Level 4 events at clubs Saphir, Vinyl, Jingxi, Blue Dog, Tokyo, Boodha or Jai Bar to name a few, and in a host of local loft and studio spaces. Past Events Include: Communism (2006), DJ Assault (2006), Mix Thursdays @ Saphir (2005-6), The Grapevine weekly @ Vinyl (2005), Good Vibrations (2005), School (2004), Fluid Thursdays (2004), Let's Do This (2004), Subculture (2003), !One Love (2002); Flux (2003); Subculture (2003); Tekstyle Thursdays @ Bluedog (2001-2002); 2K4 (with Kops Crew and Kirk6, 2003); United As One (with Kirk6, Morphee, Submission, 2002); Departure (with Kirk6) and many more...
"Behold! Human beings living in an underground den, which has a mouth open towards the light... here they have been from their childhood" (Socrates, the Allegory of the Cave).
