About me: The Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art was formed in the summer of 2002. Our founders wanted to establish a school that would be a significant source of education for visual artists from all over the world. We started with the idea in mind of developing artists who are well trained in the fundamentals and traditions that so often are overlooked in today’s art world.
With a small group of very qualified instructors we set out to train a new crop of artists who would be so strong in foundational skills that they could be applied to any creative outlet they chose, be it Fine Art, Illustration, Design etc. With this being vital to us as a school, each quarter we seek instruction from all over the nation to come and pass their great knowledge of the fundamentals on to our students. We continue to maintain a faculty of successful artists who are also phenomenal teachers dedicated to the growth of each of their students.
Our curriculum has advanced over the last few years to offer our students the traditional Atelier training of 19th century Europe in addition to the illustration techniques taught here in the U.S. We as a school have evolved over the past few years and have developed a reputation for presenting our students with the foundational progress we set out to bring.
We hope that you will become a part of our community as we continue to grow and progress, always keeping in mind the importance of being a viable source for artistic training in the Los Angeles area as well as around the world.
