Influences
I get inspired by people who live and breathe their passion,
wether it’s music, painting, poetry, carving or any form of creation.
Musically I grew up listening to the following
Led Zep, Sabbath, The Stones, The Beatles, T-Rex/Marc Bolan, Donovan, Bowie, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Heart, Twisted Sister, Cat Stevens, Ritchie Havens, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson and later W.A.S.P, Guns N Roses, Living Colour (Corey Glover Vocals of Doom), Metallica and Motley Crue. Tom Keifer, The Tea Party / Mr Jeff (God) Martin, Tod Howarth.
Then came those who I saw on the local scene, that I was fortunate enough to meet and later become friends with, these people have had a major impact on me, not only musically but also in Life. I am very honoured to know the following:
Paul (Noizemonster) Muller
Ruben & Rick Sanchez,
Ash Gravino
Claude Hay
Juz Leslie
Henri De Boer
Charles Cilia
and The Amazing Michael J Azzopardi
And I’m heavily into the written word, so these poets have an effect on my psyche.
The Brothers Grimm, Poe, Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Henry Rollins, Jennifer Singleton
Then for more Blackness.
I grew up watching any Horror movie and reading any dark novel there was to be found.
I saw the Exorcist as a young child and would sit up watching the late night Horror movies with my Dad.
He’d take every opportunity to scare the hell out of me, it was great, I look back on those times with great fondness.
The Exorcist is my favourite novel without doubt, followed closley by Legion.
Demo Recordings
Keeping in with the influence section, this is a demo of Black Sabbath’ "N.I.B." that I recorded a while ago.
In time I will be adding more demo’s of covers that I had played through the years here. I hope you dig ’em.
More Influences
Again in keeping with the theme, here are some clips of artist that have influenced me in years gone by and still to this day and artists that I have recently found that I think just rip it up.
Motormoth Kicked Serious Ass and contained my Greatest Influence, known to many as "Pablo Diablo", to me "Noizemonster".
We go back a long way and Noizemonsters drumming will live Burned and Branded in my Psyche till my dying day.
A song that rips through my spine everytime I hear it, a Killer song with Vocals of Doom.
BHP Music Videos Directed by Robert Bruzio www.eddieojeda.com
I had to add this clip to my page. Not only is this one of the best songs ever written, it’s played by two of my influence, Dee "SMF" Snider & Eddie "Fingers" Ojeda. Enjoy; Fess.
I have just heard about these guys: Gemini Five (I know I have been under a rock), but I’m digging their Music so much that I wanted to load some of my fav clips of theirs to my page to share with all my twisted fiends. I hope you Enjoy; Fess.
"Emotional rawness, along with a voice to die for, a guitar style integral to your material.
A terrific presence, visually and energetically.
What makes you stand out in my eyes, is that you’ve found your own voice".
As quoted by Sue Booker
In the dark recesses' of my mind, morbid thoughts twisted with melodies and rhythms.
A puritan' vision of music and lyric.
Hate, Lust, Loathing and Passion would fuel the songs.
Music flowed out in dark tones, some urgent and erratic, others more mellow.
But never a light at the end of the tunnel.
Reality had to be the forerunner for all Lyrics, every song is a tale of truth, someone I know or an event that happened to me.
"Acoustic Blackness" was created then and there.
As the songs took form and I stock piled song after song, it became time.
The live performance.
There was no point having this dark setting and then just doing what every other solo acoustic artist does. Bore people to death visually and sonically.
So I built a 10-foot LAB 64 and Skrine logo, black and white backdrops and had 12-inch flames on 6-foot spikes, yellow and green halogen lights placed around the front of the stage facing up at me.
And beside me, my trusty carved slave completed with Skrine tattoos
Though I had props on stage, that didn't mean I got off scot free. I played and still play every song with the same emotion and Intensity as when it was written.
