Becky - Singer, bassist and occassional percussionist
Becky’s background is as a classically trained singer with a healthy experience in Jazz and a capella styles as well. She is continuing her solo classical/jazz singing career in Bristol at the moment in addition to Labels for Jam Jars and is furthering her knowledge of the piano to compliment her singing, bass playing and percussion.
Phil - Singer and guitarist of many styles
Phil is a self-taught singer/songwriter from Reading, playing originally in a pub rock band called Deja. Playing mainly acoustic guitar, occasionally switching to either a semi-acoustic or fully electric guitar when the tone and mood take him. Phil is attempting to learn the Mandolin and Ukulele to add in to Labels for Jam Jars’ sound an occasionally folkier tinge.
Influences
We like to listen to and take inspiration from: Ezio, Foo Fighters, The Beatles, The Who, Oasis, Julie London, Norah Jones, Teddy Thompson, Queen, K T Tunstall, Tenacious D, Ray Charles, Jools Holland, Rod Stewart (Faces, not crooner era), Ocean Colour Scene, Supergrass, Eric Clapton/Cream, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, U2 to name but a few.

Labels for Jam Jars consist of Becky and Phil. Phil plays a lyrical rhythm guitar and sings with heartfelt emotion. He is also the main songwriter of the duo and is learning the mandolin. Becky plays the bass guitar, bongos, djembe and is attempting to learn the piano properly. She also sings with a combination of styles under her belt that bring a certain quality to the songs (Becky sings like the love child of Julie London and Dusty Springfield).
Due to the birth of their lovely daughter Agnes in January, Labels for Jam Jars are currently taking time out from the live music scene until life is a little more settled. They hope to get back to gigging at some point in the autumn of 2008. During this break they will continue to work on their album which they hope to release at some point in the next year.
