They've ingested all the Bay is known for, including the hyphy movement, and for them it's all love for the genre. But the Junkiez are hooked on conceiving music that represents the Bay to the fullest in a new style and a new category.
The Junkiez began in the early 2000's (2002) as Decipher, laying the groundwork and basis for what would emerge as the Lab Junkiez, evolving into their own brand, ready to trademark themselves. The result is a distinct sound that is a mix-plate of hip hop and R&B.
The troop features the talents of 3 emcees – Ritch Daily, Nolie, and Freddy P, along with female vocalist, Tes. Their influences include Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Lupe Fiasco, Hieroglyphics, Living Legends, Mac Dre, Nas, and Jay-Z. Tes' influences include Aaliyah, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Mary J. Blige.
Their fortes encompass original songwriting, producing, mixing and mastering their own music. For them, it's more than a habit, it's a compulsion. Allow yourself to consume, and be consumed.
